Mike McQueary, the assistant Nittany Lions coach who told a grand jury that in 2002 he saw former coach Jerry Sandusky sexually assault a young boy, has been placed on administrative leave. The move was announced by Penn State Interim President Rod Erickson at a news conference that began at 4 p.m.

Because his father told him to.
Didn’t I read somewhere that McQueary’s father was a doctor (a physician-type doctor, I assume). If his son’s story didn’t bring up a sense of sympathy in him, I’m glad he isn’t my doctor. The readings for this Sunday in church are about the end-times. PSU events seem to fit into the biblical scheme of the end. God help us.
You know what they say about those that compare other decent Freepers to Hitler. You may disagree but you have definitely crossed the line on that one. Good Night.
What on earth are you talking about? Hitler?
I never recommended expunging him.
I called him a pussy because he left a young boy to contine being raped by an old man.
He is a pussy, and I'd say it to his face, even if he's pussy stacked six and half feet tall.
I asked why he told ANYONE, including his father, when it obviously would have been easier to just walk away and ignore the whole incident.
His father is COO of Centre Medical. He is a fine upstanding member of the State College Community. A fine upstanding fellow that heard his son tell him Sandusky raped a kid. He is a fine upstanding fellow that watched as his son was rewarded with his career job. He is a fine upstanding fellow that watched as PSU continued to shower honors on Sandusky. He is a fine upstanding fellow that watched while Sandusky raped.
Uh dude. He was shaken up. Sometimes you just gotta talk to someone. Especially after looking into the eyes of a ten year old being raped and not doing anything about it...

No, I don't know what they say...but good night anyway.
It used to be the ultimate trump card to play when you had no other argument. Associate the other dudes as being Hitlerites. It doesn't wash anymore and people have been banned from boards for using that tactic.
Quit avioding the question. If McQueary is as evil as you say, why didn't he just ignore the whole incident and walk away. Why didn't he just "not do anything about it"?
I never said McQueary was evil. Please stop making accusations that are not true. Thank you.
No kidding.
I have to tell you, I'm a bit surprised by the vigorous defense of a moral coward here on Free Republic. They seem to think that doing the expedient thing is more appropriate than doing the right thing.
But I'm going to try to find some common ground here. Most here on this thread believe that McQueary (regardless of what he did later), should have IMMEDIATELY put a stop to the rape of a 10-year-old when he first witnessed it (or at least within a minute or two of regaining his senses after the shock of seeing such a thing). Do you notice what I just did here? I threw you a bone: I agree that McQueary would be SHOCKED to see such a thing. I would be. I might even back off and step out of the room and close the door behind me. But after 30 seconds of regaining my composure, I can GUARANTEE all you doubters out there that I would return into the room and put an immediate end to this savage attack -- in any way possible.
Is it possible that you -- NRG1973, Hellbender, TomB, and Two-Sheds -- can understand that? And I'm not exactly young (I, coincidentally, have a 10-year-old grandson).
Now my question to you four: Do you think you would do the same? I grant you, it would SHOCK us all, but could you leave the room, gather your wits about you, and return again within a minute to put an end to this savagery?
Be honest. If you wouldn't return to the room, say so. But if you wouldn't, I courteously here and now ask why you wouldn't.
The ball's in your court: NRG1973, hellbender, TomB, Two_sheds.
Courtesy ping to little jeremiah on the moral absolutes ping list.
Pedophiles are clever and sneaky and quite adept at covering their tracks.
“The saw something illegal and didnt report it...why?”
Well, in McQueary’s case, after not reporting the incident to the authorities, he was promoted from graduate assistant to wide receiver coach. Maybe that will give you a clue as to why he kept his mouth shut.
” McQ did report the crime, he did testify before the grand jury. Its not his fault that the higher-ups went into coverup mode to protect the university.”
BS. Telling Coach Paterno and then clamming up about the cover-up because you got a promotion is not reporting the crime.
I don’t know what my response would have been. I would have to access the situation and Sandusky’s actions. But then I am not a 6’5 stocky football player that had 30 years on Sandusky. But I know for sure that Sandusky would have been in handcuffs as soon as the police could locate him that night and if not already in safe hands, the police would have Sandusky in the backroom being interrogated.
Uh, you have stepped into it tonight. :)
You can jump to #252 for a fast forward if you would like to join in with us.
Oh, for crying out loud. Why are you playing games?
OK, if McQueary is as bad/cowardly/deceitful as you imply, why didn't he just ignore the whole incident and walk away. Why didn't he just "not do anything about it"?
Oh, for crying out loud. Why are you playing games?
Not playing games. You made a personal attack on me and I ask you to back it up. Your response was to make another accusation. First, you shouldn't make personal attacks and second, if you make one you should at least have a basis for the attack. Now go back and show your basis or STFU.
“I’m thinking he was 18 when he saw the rape in the shower, and is 28 now.”
An 18 year old graduate assistant? We’re talking the football program here; not likely to find a lot of “Doogie Howsers” around.
