Obama Administration Denies Waiver for Indiana's Popular Medicaid Reform

In 2007, under Gov. Mitch Daniels (R.), Indiana enacted the Healthy Indiana Plan, an expansion of Medicaid that used consumer-driven health plans to encourage low-income beneficiaries to take a more active role in their own care. Today, Health Indiana is arguably the most innovative and successful reform of Medicaid in the history of the program. Today, we learn that the Obama Administration has rejected the state’s request to extend its federal waiver, which means that over 45,000 Indianans who get their insurance through the program are out of luck.

Medicaid, of course, is the nation’s government-run health insurance program for the poor. In theory, it’s jointly run by the federal government and the states, but in reality, any time a state wants to make the tiniest changes in its Medicaid program, it has to go hat-in-hand to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services with a formal request for a waiver, and these waivers are usually denied.

It's been quite clear all along that Obama wants the poor to suffer, and that crazy woman, Sebelius, she wants to go further and punish them to the greatest degree possible.

These people are mentally ill.

When will all 50 States (whoops forgot 57 States) realize that their States are being managed by the over bloated Federal Gestapo.

Since Medicaid appears NOWHERE in the U.S. Constitution, I assume the “Commerce Clause” was invoked somewhere by some Liberal Activist/Progressive Court, and that’s why a State can’t have a Right to do its People’s bidding?

If they were mentally ill they would have some sort of excuse. What’s scary is that they are sane and know exactly what they are doing.

It is no secret that they are determined to kill all competition and all reasonable alternatives to ObamaKare.

Sure - you can keep your old doctor - only he/she will be working under the ObamaKare rules.

I was excited that Daniels did not run for president, but I believe he should be an option for VP. He’s a hell of a governor, he has budget experience in the White House (issue #1), and an issue like this would be an awesome one to help create the narrative for why Obama must go.

I really despise that Sebelius woman. They take all their ire out on Republican states. They are going to go down soon...11/6/2012 cannot come soon enough.

Indiana now has to apply for a new waiver under more complex Obamacare rules. I can’t wait for that marxist to be voted out of office.

Obama wants people to lose quality medical care, especially if they’er poor or minorities. That’s what liberals call compassion.

Obama didn’t delay this decision until after 2012.

We read this to mean

OBAMA CAMPAIGN GIVES UP ON INDIANA which he won in 2008
in sort of a miracle.

Indiana goes REpublican in 2012.
