I live in Washington state. I had the opportunity to work in Australia. I come home once a year to be with family, from just before Thanksgiving through Christmas and leave again just after New Years Day. I enjoy learning new cultures and meeting new people. I think that the more you work abroad the more understanding there will be about others.

You can directly own land in MX, but not within 100 miles of the coast.

I have close friends in both Costa Rica and Mexico that own homes. Great places to visit if you’re among the wealthy.

The issue is not about home ownership but about residency requirements, what is required to live there and drive there year round.

So let me understand you. If my wife and I have maxed out on our social security taxes for the last 16-yrs and we choose to retire elsewhere in the world, we forfeit that money we paid in?

Not sure but I assume Ontario since it has the most people overall. The thing is I imagine a large number of Americans are here because they married someone from Canada or are here for work related reasons and not politics. The cost of living is more expensive in Canada than in the US and taxes are higher in general so economically its not a more upwards unless say you are out of work and you find work in Canada.

I’ve been thinking of going to Australia. I’ve heard it’s more expensive. True? Also, what school are you going to?
