I've been tracing the family history but I haven't been able to identify any WWI vets. I had a 3-greats grandfather who was in Battery C, Fifth US Artillery during the Civil War. Also a two-greats grandfather in the 1st Virginia Light Artillery in the same conflict. A cadre of uncles, and my father in WWII. I'm proud to have these great men in my family, and proud that I had the opportunity to serve, and did serve, in the Navy during the Vietnam War. I'm sure you recall that it was not a popular war. We took a lot of abuse on our return, but it was an honorable cause. On Veterans' Day I'm proud to stand as a Vietnam Veteran who answered the Nation's call and upheld the tradition of my family to render military service.

God save the United States of America!

With you on that.

My family's history at war goes back to the beginning but there aren't a lot of memorials to there successes nationally but lots locally.

Then of course there's this one...

The one that needs endure.
