-——She is like George Washington.——
That is one of the most outrageous statements in the history of Free Republic. It indicates a tremendous ignorance of George Washington . It indicates delusion
She’s dead Jim.
The founding fathers revered "morality", often imbued by some form of religious instruction in childhood, but not necessarily just by religion.
The founders also revered "reason", a quality almost universally ignored by the vast majority religious wingnuts such as yourself.
Free Republic may not be the best place for you to call Bible-believing Christians “religious wingnuts”.
My fellow freepers have chimed in with more proof of your foolishness.
Jesus Christ is a God of reason. I’m sorry you have had life experiences that have turned you off from the faith of myself and many of my fellow freepers.
If you dare, you should post what part of the country you live in. I’ll bet some good freepers could recommend a REAL church where you could find the true love of God reflected in his servants.
Written by a coward with a totally blank profile page; one who tries to claim his father's and grandfather's military service as his own.
Back to what precipitated this discussion: you posited that Sarah Palin was prohibited from leadership because of your religious clap-trap.
Palin was elected Governor of Alaska, after previously being elected mayor of Wasilla, after previously being elected to their city council. She has a solid record of leadership successes in all the positions that she has held.
Other women, of both parties have been elected to leadership positions across the nation. Some have served well; some have not. Same with the men who have held those offices.
Have you ever been elected to any municipal or state office? If not, why would God overlook such a sparkling example of idiocy such as yourself, when He needed to fill these positions with a biblically-correct gendered person?
Guess Mike skipped the book of Judges. There was no man in Israel that God could use so He used Deborah. She called a man named Barak to fight a battle. He wouldn't go unless Deborah came with him. They won. Sounds like leadership to me.
Have a good night.
I was fixin' to mention Deborah in a couple more segments. There were actually two fighting women in that story. Jael, another woman, to whose tent Sisera fled after Deborah kicked his butt on the battlefield, drove a tent stake through his noggin while he slept off the indignity of getting whipped by a girl.
Interestingly, about 1200 years of history got passed down mostly in campfire stories and songs, from Abraham to Babylon, before they achieved any sort of written permanence, about six to eight hundred years after Deborah, around the 6th century BC.
It seems sad to lose family history through the centuries, but it is logical that some details get lost, and other details get created to fill in the gaps (and to answer those questions of mystery that kids are prone to ask, such as "where did we come from?").
Now you are lying.
I never claimed my parent’s service was my own.
I never said that women were specifically prohibited from civil leadership roles. I speculated that perhaps God told Sarah not to run in Prayer, and that the Bible calls for men to lead in marriage and the church.
You started name calling and implying I did not know the Bible. I proved you wrong. Only cowards talk tough and lie behind keyboards.
You may be a veteran, but you talk like a 10 year old punk.
I am not wasting any more time on a loser like you.
I was going to mention that Deborah was the closest thing to a female leader in the Bible.
My point still stands that the New Testament calls for men to lead in Church and marriage.
I also know of cases in marriage where the man fell out of fellowship with God, and the wife’s commitment to prayer and staying in the light led her husband back to the Lord.
In that case and the one you mentioned, it was a response to a woman stepping up because of man’s failures.
Well, I believe the Bible to be the divine inspired word of God. He created the earth and everything in it and on it. Directing the compilation of a book is not beyond Him. Where we get into trouble is in understanding what He’s telling us.
I don't see politics listed there. And HE still will call women when there are no men worthy.
Don't use God's Word as a baseball bat, okay? No one after being hammered turns and embraces the ballbat.
I made a stretch applying a concept of church/marriage to politics. That was made based on a speculation that God told Palin not to run in prayer, and no one probably knows why even if He did.
The body of Christ is made up of many members, working with different gifts and different callings.
I feel it is sometimes necessary to sink to the level of a name calling punk like maedsjn to make a point and communicate on their ignorant, juvenile level.
Remeber, Jesus and John the Baptist did not “play nice” when dealing with the Pharisees.
I feel this country would not have fallen to its current level of degenerate political corruption and social debauchery if more Christians had the guts to speak out against evil. We all know the famous Niemoller quote about “no one left to speak for me”. This failure of good people to speak out stongly led to the destruction of Germany by the Nazis.
Reading the recent autobiography of Dietric Bonhoeffer would help one to see where I am coming from.
Your good advice is well taken, and I agree for most people. However, some men like Jeremiah and John the Baptist were called to use the Word of Truth as a “baseball bat” to expose the evils in their soceities.
Thank for your advice, DJ MacWoW.
You have a lovely day.
That is good advice. There are very many acts of loving kindness by Jesus in the Bible, and only one display of righteous anger in the temple cleansing.
People living in sin love to quote Jesus about those without sin casting the first stone, but you never hear them repeating His words to “go and sin no more”.
Blessings to you.
