Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry, looking to bounce back from a recent debate gaffe, doubled-down in his own defense Thursday by admitting debating is not his strength.
If were electing the Debater-in-Chief, dont elect me, the Texas governor said on Fox News, repeating his previous criticism of President Obama, who he calls a great debater.
Earlier in the day, Perry called President Obama sleek as a mink over his debate-style on conservative talk radio host Laura Ingrahams show.
Perry stayed on message in his latest appearance, part of a media blitz Thursday following a debate misstep the previous night in which he forgot the third federal agency he plans to eliminate as president.
He acknowledged the extended stumble was brutal. Perry laughed it off on Thursday, however, turning it into a joke on his website and Twitter feed.
I hope they don't lose the feed before the third question! Perry tweeted when announcing the Fox interview. In a follow-up tweet, he used the hashtag #forgetmenot.

Do we really need a master debator ... we’ve had a jercough for the last 3 years and look what it got us.
So he CLAIMS he’s not a master debater?
Wish he could have done it. Would have been nice if the base and the elite had been able to rally around one candidate, but Perry just wasn't up to the task.
In fact, given his bizarre performances lately, I just hope he isn't physically ill.
Perry admits he sucks at debate. He then says Obama is a great debater. Why would anyone want this halfwit to be the Republican nominee when he all but admits he would get killed in a debate with Barry?
Not to worry. We are not electing you for President anyway.
Perry’s media blitz is now starting to look a lot like a comeback tour. Perry’s “I just made a mistake” message has actually set the candidate free, allowing him to shrug off his campaign talking points and show off the straight-talking humility and humor that has long been his strength as a politician.
I’m sure there was a way to handle the gaff. Perry’s handling of this gaff and some of his other less than stellar moments just make him appear not too bright.
admitting debating is not his strength.
Dealing with those animals out on the farm usually don’t require a lot of debating skills.
Yeah, because the President never has to think quickly on his feet. Never has to make a snap decision. Never has meetings with other nations where his wit matters.
President is just the king, ask Obama, see how well that’s working?
I like Perry’s sense of humor. However, I REALLY wanted to like him as a candidate. I was thrilled when he entered the race. Now, I can’t express how disappointed I am. He is not “the One” for us and really should bow out, along with Huntsman and Santorum.
OK! Works for me! Wasn’t going to vote for you anyway.
I was not planning on doing that.
If were electing the Debater-in-Chief, dont elect me,
Fine by me chump.
You wanted in.
Don’t make excuses for your shortcomings.
The subject matter is known and it is incumbent upon your team to teach you how to swing a bat, an axe or sling Shiite on any issue.
Get to work!
Perry has become a joke due to his bad debate performances. He looked stupid in a place where he needs to look intelligent. His second chance is up.
LOL!
After debate flub, Perry recalls Britney Spears song Oops! I Did It Again
That’s right you numbskull, I’d also rather not vote for someone who makes a bunch of conservative noises without really caring about any of it.
And when millions of people tune into the national debate they’ll see Obama smoke Perry and make him look foolish. Then Barry wins 56 out of 57 states.
