'The home secretary is banning Muslims Against Crusades (MAC), a group that planned an anti-Armistice Day protest.
It had wanted to repeat a demonstration held last year, when it burned poppies near London's Albert Hall.
Theresa May's order will make membership or support of MAC a criminal offence. It is closely linked to seven other previously-banned groups.
The organisation, now dissolved, said "the call for Islam will never be silenced by any ban or proscription".
Mrs May said she was satisfied that Muslims Against Crusades (MAC) was "simply another name for an organisation already proscribed under a number of names".
"The organisation was proscribed in 2006 for glorifying terrorism and we are clear it should not be able to continue these activities by simply changing its name," she said.
Muslims Against Crusades is the latest incarnation of an organisation originally set up by extremist preacher Omar Bakri Mohammed, who fled the UK six years ago.'

Then you are buggered, governor. The EDL are willing to confront those who would dishonor and spit upon the service of the UK's uniformed finest, still standing and fallen, regardless of the politics of war.
While they might not be Britain's most cultured, educated, and proper at Afternoon Tea, their stalwart support of the Troops in a "facepalm-ably" PC UK make them "heroes" in this Yank's book! GO EDL!!
Post of the day!
I have plenty for the Islamonazis, too. Hey, wait a minute, they're both Nazis . . . LOLOL.
If you seriously believe, as you imply, that the EDL are alone in Britain in their 'stalwart support of the Troops', or that there are not other, perhaps rather better means of stalwart support shown by very much larger numbers, then your knowledge of this country is indeed, I'm afraid, slight. You could do worse than discover a little about the actions of the good citizens of Wootton Bassett; or the hundreds of public acts of remembrance taking place today, at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, in towns and villages throughout the land.
Never said that, was not trying to imply it. Just saying that showing such support as they do, perhaps a little over the top or in-your-face by British standards (outside of a football stadium), is admirable and not worthy of scorn, derision, or bogus labels such as "far right, facist, Nazi" etc. IMHO. I'll take the EDL lads, however rough around edges, over their Socialist and/or Islamist opponents any day.
You’re a c_nt.
That’s all you will ever be.
I’ve got something for you, sunshine.
Save it for your EDL buddies. I hear they’re into the same-sex thing.
Don’t listen to the BS. The knowledge is, indeed, slight. The implication is, indeed, there. And support of drug trafficking, prostitution, criminal enterprise, and just regular hooliganism just makes one “rough around the edges” if that person supports the troops.
You’re a Caring, Understanding N Tolerant little coward.
That’s a cute audible birth control device but it doesn’t change the fact that youre a Caring, Understanding N Tolerant little coward.
That, in a nutshell, is the argument I'm seeing on this thread.
No, that’s not it. Not at all.
Forget it..not that you ever got it.
Have a good one.
