Great analogy. Thanks for posting this. The major difference being Grant did drink. But it was never proven it was a major problem for him. There was one notable, recorded, spree during his years in command of an army. And it’s said his chief of staff was instrumental in keeping him from the bottle. But there were also long periods of abstinence as well that contradict a serious addiction.

With Cain we have no such evidence of any issues or problems. It’s all hearsay with the accusers being proven to be self-promoting cons.

Grant also suffered from migraine headaches that caused him to confine himself to his tent. Reporters just assumed he was drunk/hungover.
