Exactly. While I haven’t formally decided who I will vote for (like anyone really cares much), I am excited and intrigued by 999. When I talk to people they ask me why I could be so enthusiastic for it, why I would want another form of tax etc. The answer is simple: All the power is derived by the tax code. That power makes us fear the government and fear politicians, when it should be the other way around; politicians should fear the people. There is no time left to wait - if we wait 4 years we will be over $20 trillion in debt and who knows what else can happen. We need a radical change, not some small tinkering. And the place to start is with the code itself. Make a code that is transparent, visible and forces everyone to participate and the politicians will be afraid to ever raise taxes because such a raise will cause the entire country to be angry. Fear isn’t the only motivation of course. I don’t like the abuse and favoritism, the invasion of privacy, the distribution of power, the “bribe” money (donations) and lobbying that the current code encourage.

I also like 999 because it is simple, it will drive more foreign dollars to the USA, it taxes everyone who ever steps foot in America (including tourists etc, who benefit from the country but don’t contribute much to it), black marketeers and so on. I also think there is a way to make 999 work without having to file tax returns, restoring dignity and privacy to the citizenry.
