Penn State trustees fired football coach Joe Paterno and university president Graham Spanier (SPAN-yer) amid the growing furor over how the school handled sex abuse allegations against an assistant coach.
The massive shakeup Wednesday night came hours after Paterno announced that he planned to retire at the end of his 46th season.
But the outcry following the arrest of former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky on molestation charges proved too much for the board to ignore.
One key question has been why Paterno and other top school officials didn't go to police in 2002 after being told a graduate assistant saw Sandusky assaulting a boy in a school shower...

Paterno and Penn State will be the newest scapegoat and the real problems won’t ever be addressed.
Paterno knew children were being raped and did nothing to stop it or bring Sandusky to justice. Why do you call him a scapegoat? The coverup IS the problem. You can’t claim ignorance about this now.

OMG do you hear yourself? Wtf is the matter with you?! The students are NOT the victims. It’s not about sex abuse, molestation, or sex with minors, you braindead fans. It’s CHILD RAPE. It was eyewitnessed. It was ignored by EVERYONE IN AUTHORITY at Penn State. More rapes. Is it sinking in.
Yet, would it have ever been known without McCreary reporting it as he did? Had he pulled Sandusky off no one would have believed him over the coach.

IMO, the problem is that we as a people, even many Conservatives in name only, have devolved to the point that as long as we get what we want, others can suffer.

Any person with a gram of morality and decency would deck the idiot saying that but there are so many saying and thinking that exact thing right now, it shows you that America is pretty much toast. And we got that way because liberals incrementalized that very philosophy into mainstream consciousness.
Note the above was the EXACT rationalle given in defense by Hollywood RE Polanski. I just changed the words to fit this situation. The overal excuse is one and the same.
And until Conservatives and Liberals alike will stop living in fear/denial and openly and loudly admit that man on boy pedo is a homosexual occurance, we cannot even begin to address the situation effectively.

I read it and wonder how many more victims there are of unreported incidents of child molestation/rape.
Sandusky had a lot of years and opportunities.
I hope all those kids get the deed to all those assets. His, anyone involved and all those of the ‘college’. And I don’t even care if a bunch of liars join any suit in a class action to be honest. Let the havok serve as an example to the rest. It’s about time their chickens roost and it’s beautiful irony that their liberal philosophy (protecting the gay pedo) will result in their grand explosion.
Since Paterno was McQueary’s boss the law can be interpreted that Paterno was the one obligated to report. It doesn’t have to go to the very top of the chain of command before someone calls the cops.
Amazing that these guys were so arrogant they didn’t resign!
I hope his daddy will be able to find him a new job.

It was overdue! Both men, if they had any self-respect would have resigned on their own.
Paterno had the arrogrance to think he could dictate his own terms in leaving.
He was the most powerful man at Penn State and did nothing for 10 years about these crimes.
No one is absolving McQueary of anything, (or his nitwit father), but that doesn’t absolve Paterno either.
Not for the want of trying!
It was claimed the other janitor's who he told urged him not to report it for fear of losing their jobs.
I believe that this is not going to be limited to one man.
No, they are in a meltdown because other men did nothing to protect those children.
The grand jury testimony is very clear, Paterno knew about what was happening.
The Grad student SAW the act.
None of this is alleged, these are from their own lips.
The FACT that nothing was done for 9 years is what this is about.
He ignored it for 10 years.
And still no one knows who that boy was!
We don't know if he is even alive!
