Wayne County Executive Bob Ficano today announced a significant shakeup in his executive team, telling reporters that "Wayne County cannot go back to business as usual" in the wake of the Turkia Mullin severance scandal.
Ficano said he has accepted resignations from Deputy Executive Azzam Elder and Wayne County Corporation Counsel Marianne Elder, both of whom he had placed on administrative leave last month in the wake of the severance revelation.
"I take responsibility for mistakes made under my watch. I'm the leader. The buck stops with me," said Ficano. "As a leader I'm committed to transparency, holding people accountable, and not only finding a problem, but most important is to fix it. It's important to have people beside me that I can trust and rely on."

Ficano also dismissed criticism of county contractors like Walbridge's John Rakolta and Strategic Staffing Solution's Cindy Pasky serving on the EDGE board. He said all contracts go through the normal bid process, and neither Walbridge nor Strategic Staffing have won every contract they've bid on.
"They have followed the procurement process," said Ficano. "I think if you were to check Strategic Staffing has bid and lost on eight projects."

Turkia Mullin was the CEO of the Wayne County Airport, which is the home base for all the no-bid contracts and kickbacks. Mullin got a $200,000 severance package and there's a whole bunch of other stuff. Basically, it's typical big city corruption you see in democrat hellholes.
John Rakolta is the head of Walbridge. He's also the sister in law of Ronna Romney. (George Jr's ex wife). However, Rakolta is still close to the Romney family. He's Mitt Romney's National Finance Director.
Right Michigan has been digging a little and has stuff up here - Wayne County Confidential pt 1 which has video from Channel 7.
This is starting to get big locally, and if Rakolta is snagged with this, it will go viral nationally. He's a major player in Michigan politics.
How about Ficano? Is HE clean??
He's not.
