A poorly moderated debate makes our candidates look bad — like our candidates are complicit in wasting the audiences’ time. Could the debate organizers be setting up lousy debates on purpose to make our candidates look bad?

The only problem with that thinking is that so far the best candidates are doing the best at these debates and helping themseves. Gingrich would not have been gaining if it weren't for these debates.

Any Republican who wants to win the nomination should be able to go into the lion's den and stare the lion down while explaining what they believe. Some candidates are doing that, others are not.

I agree with you. I never blamed Katy Couric for making Palin look bad. Actually, in an edited interview like Couric-Palin, Palin’s only excuse for not doing well would be that editing distorted what we saw.

It was nice to see the candidates and the audience push back against the sometimes-poor moderating.
