As your name suggests, I too am wide awake and cannot for the life of me figure out when the word surgery became synonymous with meeting.

That means that the surgeons wore blue jeans, and t-shirts while operating on Joe, were having beer while doing so, and had Joe’s butt on the grill, cooking, all at the same time.
It’s known as multi-tasking. Hope that cleared things up for ya.
