UPDATE - Nov. 9: The Associated Press is reporting that Joe Paterno has decided to retire at the end of the season.
As the amount of alleged victims in the Jerry Sandusky case climbs rapidly, reports are emerging that Penn State head coach Joe Paterno's coaching career will soon come to an end. Official support for Paterno is reportedly "eroding," even as Nittany Lion fans rally in support of the longtime coach.
The New York Times reported Tuesday that Paterno's 46 years as Nittany Lion head coach "will soon be over, perhaps within days or weeks." According to two sources familiar with top administrative discussions who spoke to the Times, talks to determine "how to manage his departure have begun."
"The board of trustees has yet to determine the precise timing of Paternos exit," the Times writes, "but it is clear that the man who has more victories than any other coach at college footballs top level and who made Penn State a prestigious brand will not survive to coach another season."

if he knew of children being abused on his watch....he needs to GO!
google sandusky grand jury report ...
These past few years I have watched penn State football games on TV and smiled, wondering, “Who is that carrot top on the sidelines with the clipboard”? He always looked excited and really into the game. I will never again look at that guy the same. He was 28(!) when he walked into that shower and saw the gay pedophile Sandusky raping the boy. And he walked away and called his Dad? Yikes.
Joe Paterno is cooperating with the DA and the grand jury. I think that it's reasonable to conclude that the grand jury report is putting a spin on Paterno's role in return for that cooperation.
As far as Joe being "all-knowing"? It's pretty close to that with JoePa. He 'handles' every problem that faces the football program. No athletic director or university president has the stature to take him on when it comes to that program. His power comes directly from the PSU board of directors. Spanier, the PSU president, wanted Paterno gone when his last contract was up, but couldn't get it done due to that board.
yes.

My thoughts as posted earlier. I think it goes further. What did Sandusky have on Spanier. Photos? What was on Gricar's hard drive that he wanted to destroy? Why did Gricar 'disappear'?
And got a job as WR coach ...
When Spanier became President at Penn State in 1995 and set the standard that homosexuality would be not just tolerated, but embraced by the University.
Spanier is such a radical homosexual advocate (we must wonder now if he is a homosexual himself) that he believes there is no such thing as pedophelia!
Wondering if the DA just allowed Paterno to wiggle-out of his culpability here by failing to closely question McCreary & Paterno on the discrepancy. If that did happen, then McCreary has got to be regretting his decision to cooperate on that point, because it looks bad for him.
I don’t think it has to get that convoluted. It’s big time NCAA Football. Billions at stake. “Protect the Program” is commandment #1. And now we know how far that goes.
Sounds like Penn State University would be a great candidate for an Office of Special Counsel training opportunity... and fast.
Urban Meyer’s daughter is attending PSU. Rumor has it that Meyer has purchased some land in nearby Boalsburg. Might not mean a thing. Dick Vermeil’s daughter attended PSU around the time that Vermeil left the Eagles.
Sandusky was pushed out due to being caught with a boy in the showers. How did he manage to get such a special retirement package? He had the goods on someone high up. My suspicion is that person was Spanier.
The board has leaked it that Spanier is gone.
I read where the daughter of Gricar had him declared dead, however I read that there is a theory that he had been paid off, but there was no theory about who might have done that.
It seems that Gricar’s absence is relevant to all this, but you hear very little about it anywhere.
Why not ask the many boys, now men, whether they think JoePa is a threat?
I think this is why McQueary got a job. Payoff for silence.
The whole coaching staff should be fired, as should Spanier, and the football program suspended for this season and maybe next. Give the players who want to transfer special dispensation to play right away at other schools, and honor the scholarships of any who want to stay at PSU and finish their educations. The last part won’t happen because money talks, even in the face of sexual abuse of children, but I can dream.
Personally, I’ll be throwing away all of my PSU gear.
Thanks for the link. Appreciate it.
