I just think it’s amazing how many conservatives are willing to believe anonymous sources that refuse even to specify the charges, and who believe this woman whose story Mark Levin, for one, kicked wide open holes in (last evening). If a credible accuser came forward with believable charges it would matter to me. If you find this, frankly, unhinged looking/sounding woman with the hinky background, credible, then you and I have antipodal definitions of that word.”

I don't think I really disagree with you.

The problem is that when just as most criminals get away with most of their crimes until they get used to not getting caught and start making mistakes, serial sexual predators routinely have many victims who never come forward, and some people who don't even see themselves as victims (i.e., they slept with the boss, got the promotion they wanted, and both are happy).

It's also a simple fact of sex abuse cases that smart abusers pick weak women who won't be believed.

Getting to the bottom of these accusations takes time. If we're going to have people being elected president with very minimal prior experience in public office — a very bad precedent set by President Obama — then we're going to have to get used to the idea that lots of accusations will come up in the campaign which have never been adequately evaluated, and which may come up so late that they **CAN'T** be conclusively proved right or wrong.

We're stuck with this situation now. For better or for worse, the Republican field is now set in concrete and we don't have any other candidates out there — and Cain is looking like one of the better choices if he puts these accusations behind him. Maybe we can learn for the next race that there are serious consequences to having people run for top office who haven't been subjected to long and detailed scrutiny while serving in city, county, and state government, or in Congress.

If there was any truth to these accusations and if Cain had been Governor Cain or Congressman Cain or Senator Cain, we'd have known long ago one way or the other. Now we're stuck with two months to find out, and we should not be in this situation.

The reality is that any liberal can make any charge they want against a conservative, and the MSM will run with the smear 24/7. A credible accuser can come forward against a Dem and will be first vilified and then ignored. If we don’t stop playing the MSM now we will never again have a decent candidate run on the GOP side. If this smear against Cain succeeds, the MSM double-standard will be codified, and we may as well kiss the GOP good bye.
