A week after Politico published vague, second-hand accounts of possible sexual harassment by Herman Cain during his tenure at the National Restaurant Association, one woman has gone on the record with specific allegations from fourteen years ago. Sharon Bialek, described by her representative Gloria Allred as a single mom, says that Cain groped her — but backed off after she told him to stop:

A fourth woman said Monday that presidential candidate Herman Cain engaged in sexually inappropriate behavior with her more than decade ago, though Cain was not her supervisor at the time.
Sharon Bialek, the first woman to publicly accuse Cain of inappropriate behavior, said Cain was “sexually inappropriate” with her in 1997, saying he put his hand under her skirt and pushed her head toward his crotch after a dinner together. She said he backed away after she asked him to stop.
“I want you to come clean, Mr. Cain,” she said in a New York City press conference at the Friars Club with her attorney, Gloria Allred at her side. Allred is known for her media savvy and for representing women who have had legal issues with the rich and powerful.
Three other women have reportedly accused Cain of inappropriate behavior while he was running the National Restaurant Association, but none has made public charges against him.

At that time I had on a black pleated skirt, a suit jacket and a blouse. He had on a suit with his shirt open. But instead of going into the offices, he suddenly reached over and he put his hand on my leg under my skirt and reached for my genitals. He also grabbed my head and brought it towards his crotch. I was very, very surprised and very shocked. I said, “What are you doing? You know I have a boyfriend. This isn’t what I came here for.”
Mr. Cain said, ‘You want a job, right?’ I asked him to stop, and he did. I asked him to take me back to my hotel, which he did right away.
Cain immediately issued a statement regarding the charges:
Just as the country finally begins to refocus on our crippling $15 trillion national debt and the unacceptably high unemployment rate, now activist celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred is bringing forth more false accusations against the character of Republican front-runner Herman Cain.
All allegations of harassment against Mr. Cain are completely false. Mr. Cain has never harassed anyone. Fortunately the American people will not allow Mr. Cain’s bold “9-9-9 Plan”, clear foreign policy vision and plans for energy independence to be overshadowed by these bogus attacks.
I’d call that a complete denial, but having someone go on the record will make it more difficult for Cain to ignore the story, as he had planned to do with last week’s allegations. Despite Allred’s stupid comment about calling the incident Cain’s “idea of a stimulus package,” the fact that someone is willing to go on record and give specifics on a charge will make this seem a lot more credible than last week’s vague reporting from Politico. Making that more difficult is the statement from Bialek and Allred that the purported victim is a Tea Party Republican, which might indicate less of a credibility issue than otherwise.
Yuck! I hope the other women were better looking than this one.
Should we take bets on how many women will come forward now. How many is it now, counting the “doctor up my tea” nutcase? My guess is that nine women will come forward, and at least two love children are waiting in the wings.
It’s time for full disclosure. How many women have been boinked by Romney? Did he ever wink at a woman, or pay one a compliment? How about Perry? We all know Newt’s a hound dog.
Obama has to have more gay lovers than Sinclair. He must have picked up a few when he and Rahm were hanging out at their gay bathhouse. What kinky stories remain to be told? Does Obama have his own Lewinsky or Lew in the Oral office?

I don’t see any particular reason to think Herman Cain is fibbing about this one, true. But I think things are going to get a lot uglier before the blood clears from the water. Hopefully with Herman Cain still swimming in the lead.

I'm a Cain supporter, but I don't see evidence of what you're talking about. It was hyper-partisan Gloria Allred, who can't talk to a Republican without throwing up.
What evidence do we have or what can we get?
There is no evidence except "he said" or "she said."
Therefore, at this point in time, the only way to resolve the issue is to do so on the basis of character and reputation. If Mr. Cain has, overall, earned a reputation for being a man of high character and good conduct, then that is in his favor.
Likewise, her reputation for character and truthfulness will be a factor.

I closed my eyes and tried to imagine Herman Cain in the scenario depicted by Allred and this woman. Can’t do it.
“There are two people she confided in at the time who have signed affidavits.”
She ran the scam back then,, of course she told a few people back then. They probably were told. Thats how she gets the settlement in the first place. I bet she even pulled a nosehair and made a tear come out before she told them.
If those people didnt witness it, those affidavits are meaningless.
Wondering if someone paid her off. Can’t imagine her doing this for nothing.
I couldn’t find anything, but most Bialeks I’ve found listed on newsmeat were democrats.

Yeah the ride home proves she didn’t see him as a threat. In fact her own tale claims she said stop and he did. She came to see him they had dinner and i presume drinks and maybe in his poor weak wine-soaked judgment at the moment thought she was giving him the green light. Even in that not-proven scenario how is any of this relevant in 2011????
She initiated the contact; she evidently admired and probably desired the man; she tells him she's booked a hotel room at the Hilton.
Herman never asked to go to her room, even after he allegedly “upgraded” her to a suite.
I've seen it all in business and I can tell you she was looking for a Sugar Daddy and Herman wasn't buying into the situation.

That was my take: inappropriate affect for such serious allegations. I smell a rat.
We know how much the Dems object to this and, thus, would want to protect the office of the presidency from sexual assaulters . . . oh, wait . . .
Did she mention a date when this supposedly happened? Perhaps the hotel has logs.
