Go to Home Depot and buy a 3lb box of Trisodium Phospate from the paint department for $10, add a teaspoon to each load of laundry or to your dishwasher with the detergent and viola!, clean clothes and dishes.

Go to Home Depot and buy a 3lb box of Trisodium Phospate

I was looking for this at the local Lowe's, Home Depot and Menards just a few weeks ago as I use TSP to clean walls prior to painting.

None of the three had it on their shelves, the Home Depot near me told me it's not sold anymore due to EPA regulations. If you have a "source" near you, can I paypal you some money to get it and ship it to me?

Make sure you get the real TSP. IIRC, the real stuff is in a red box, but there is some "non phosphate" TSP that is in a similar box, but it is yellow.

Last time I bought some at Lowes, the real stuff in the red boxes was way up on the top shelf, and I had to get a clerk to get it down for me. The fake TSP in the yellow boxes was within arm's reach.

Also, you can buy Cascade dishwasher detergent with the phosphate still in it at janitorial or restaurant supply stores. The commercial products are exempt from the phosphate ban.
