That is why on one of the hottest days in Philadelphia, the founding fathers, in their wool clothing, went to Independence Hall with guards. They sat in the building with the windows closed and curtains drawn. It was well over 100 degrees and they were signing their own death warrants, but they did it for the new United States of America and freedom from the king.
I had the marvelous opportunity to stand in the spot where the Declaration of Independence was signed on a day as hot as the July that the founders endured. I thank them for what they went through for us.
