Like I said, nobody wants to hear Perry say ‘we already implemented that in Texas’ to their proposals...when Perry didn't implement it (the Galveston plan).

There, fixed it for you.

Like Reagan said, ‘anything is possible when nobody cares who gets the credit.’

Look, I love Cain and Newt. Just point out if you want to see how their proposals might pan out, just look to Texas.

Easy research material on this one. It was January 1, 1981 that the Galveston Plan was officially started and it was first organized in 1979.

The current debate over Social Security reform is reminiscent of the discussions that occurred in Galveston County, Texas, in 1980, when county workers were offered a retirement alternative to Social Security: At the time they reacted with keen interest and some knee-jerk fear of the unknown. But after 24 years, folks here can say unequivocally that when Galveston County pulled out of the Social Security system in 1981, we were on the road to providing our workers with a better deal than Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal.

Perry did not start any term in public office until 1984, as a Democrat.
