Republican 2012 presidential candidates Republican 2012 presidential candidates Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich met in a Lincoln-Douglas style debate on current economic and social issues facing the U.S.
I also don’t know why they are so busy trashing him all the time, when they say he is already toast and already has lost and is a non-player. Why bother?
I understood why he got trashed when he first entered — the Bachmann people didn’t like him stealing her thunder, and the Palin people saw him shooting up in the polls and needed to take him down to “clear the field” so Palin would have room to enter.
But once Palin said no, and Perry dropped down to earth, I don’t understand why they still hate him so much. Or why they make such big deals out of trivial things that we only even KNOW about because he actually served as a governor for 10 years.
If Cain had been a governor for 10 years, I’m sure he’d have a list of things that were equally “disturbing” as some of what they complain about with Perry. The nice thing about being an amateur is you have no record to attack.
If Gingrich didn’t have a record, how would he look now?
It is tough. This is the road. It will be scrutinized.
Right. It’s their fault Perry can articulate his ‘plan’ let alone string two sentences together.
Indeed He is.
I hate to throw cold water on that concept, but I felt that way when we had the Obamacare discussion with the republicans. And in my mind Ryan handed Obama his head on a platter. But that’s not how it came across once the media got a hold of it.
Cain and Gingrich seem very fired up on Mr Perrys platform of States rights.
Nice try at a juvenile insult, but I’m a Gingrich supporter. You really need to chill, you’re compounding your mistakes.
I disagree. A man of character (like Reagan or Cain) picks good men for policy. He has a likeable personality and the grand view. His hires deal with the wonky details.
Boogie woogie?
This debate had a specific topic, and they kept to the topic, and the topic wasn’t the monetary system. (I got trashed by some supporter of one of the candidates for mentioning this during the debate, but it’s true — that’s why Cain apologized for bringing up the 9-9-9 plan, because it wasn’t on the agenda.
Sorry, honey, I’m just getting started. You don’t like it? Tough.
The man does nothing but pad his contributors pockets for 9 years then gets a couple of items passed right before making a run for the President. And we are supposed to respect THAT? Not gonna happen.
Well, after getting your ass kicked a few times, you don’t step into the ring anymore.
Exactly ! This is one thing, I dont understand our Republican candidates ! I dont remember democrats candidates having conservative moderators in 2008 ! Stop pleasing the MSM ! Never going to get anything positive out of it!
I’ve been whining about this for 4 years! Why agree to those shopping cart podium debates with liberal moderators? When Hillary and Barack submit to a debate moderated by rush Limbaugh! We need more debates like this, orat least with conservative moderators.
I’m telling you...having both of these guys on the ticket, in either direction, would make my year.
I loved the comment at the end when Herman asked Newt: “If you were VICE President of the United States...”
“They’re both from the same state (Georgia), so they couldn’t be on the same ticket as per Amendment XII.”
I don’t believe Newt has lived in Georgia in awhile. Virginia resident. So it’s not a problem.
It’s Texist, as in ‘I don’t care how y’all did it in Texas! Well, actually I do and completely support it, but only if I hear it later and theoretically from a non-Texan!’
Oh but EVERYONE is stealing Perry’s platform!!!!
