The Obama Administration announced its objection to including President Roosevelt’s prayer on the World War II Memorial in Washington DC. The Obama White House said the prayer would dilute the message of the memorial.
Todd Starnes reported:
Republican lawmakers and conservative activists are expressing outrage after the Obama administration announced its objection to adding President Franklin Roosevelts D-Day prayer to the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.
The objection was noted during a congressional hearing on Rep. Bill Johnsons (R-OH) bill the World War II Memorial Prayer Act of 2011.
“It is unconscionable that the Obama administration would stand in the way of honoring our nations distinguished World War II veterans, Johnson said. President Roosevelts prayer gave solace, comfort and strength to our nation and our brave warriors as we fought against tyranny and oppression.
Roosevelt asked the nation to join him in prayer as U.S. and allied troops launched the invasion that led to the defeat of Nazi Germany. He asked God to give the allied troops courage and faith, saying, With thy blessing we shall prevail over the unholy forces of our enemy.
But Robert Abbey, the director of the Bureau of Land Management, said any plaque or inscription of the prayer would dilute the memorials central message and therefore should not be altered.
It is not a judgment as to the merit of this new commemoration, simply that altering the Memorial in this way, as proposed in HR 2070, will necessarily dilute this elegant memorials central message and its ability to clearly convey that message to move, educate, and inspire its many visitors, Abbey said in written testimony.
They will need Thy blessings. Their road will be long and hard. For the enemy is strong. He may hurl back our forces.
It is still applicable today ... perhaps more so when the enemy includes our own president. God help us all.
Lol, the big 100 lb. canine monster lowers his head in a submissive manner to everyone so they’ll pet him, but not to this guy. Both dogs looked at him straight on with “I’m the big alpha dog and you’re lower than flea dirt” stares. Hubby politely commented on it and had the big one go around to everyone to show he had the goods on the guy and it still went over his head. Zoooom, everything went over his head. The moron had the nerve to say we are lucky to have such a president who cares so much for everyone and it’s making us look good to other countries... that anyone was better than “that Palin”... and hey, he’s black and we’ve had enough conservative old white men. That’s when I nearly lost it. In the end, the dogs and I concluded he wasn’t worth it. I raised smart dogs but I may have failed miserably with Juniorette if this is what she’s going to be bringing home. However, hubby pointed out she’s the alpha there so there’s still hope.
