RUSH: I am starting to sense it. I am starting to see it. When I sense it, when I see it, it probably is true. That's been my track record. I think I detect the media heading into damage control on the Herman Cain story. A lot of media are. This day five now, and still nobody knows what he did. Not a single media outlet can report what he did!
Some are even suggesting that The Politico had no business running this story. These are other journalists who are beginning to say this. ... The media is also in damage control over the Occupy Oakland riots the night before last. I mean, yesterday the media was trying to pretend the Oakland protests were peaceful; the very model of a love fest, but now the truth is coming out along with some of the pictures and they're switching over to damage control mode -- and they're doing the same thing in the Herman Cain story.
Really, folks, five days now, and nobody knows what he did... Nobody knows still. Five days!
...No matter what happens here, every Republican candidate for the nomination -- every one of them -- is so superior to Barack Obama, it's laughable. Of course the Drive-Bys know that, and Democrats know that. But when you have the Washington Post and ABC News in their joint poll saying that 70% of Republicans don't care about the Herman Cain allegations, what that can be translated to is the following:
"Politico, you failed. You attempted, along with others in the mainstream media, to take the guy out, and you failed. Your influence isn't what you thought it was.

Right. That chart shows Cain steady at around 25% for the last several days, not dipping as you claimed.
30% to 26% to 23% is a loss of about a quarter of his support over the last 5 days. It could be the Quinnipiac poll was just an outlier, or just varitions in polling methodology and margin of error. Or it could be the story hurt him. We’ll have to wait to see.
“Im more angry about the Friendly Fire than crud spewed by the left. I expect it from them.
Karl Rove needs to go away.”
Michael Medved is another one who has been using this as an opportunity to trash Cain.
You are reading the data incorrectly. You can’t compare different polls like you are trying to do.
Thank you so much for posting this. I just got around to reading it this morning. I needed some good news to start the day. I believe Herman is going to overcome this and come out stronger and better off for it. Thanks again.
Rush, called out other republicans for not standing up to it.

Newt DID defend Herman. Mittens said: “I dunno; ask Herman Cain; don’t ask me.” Santorum didn’t help Herman or himself and Michele Bachmann tried to us it for political capital and just made her look meaner and more desperate than she has in the past couple of months. What a disappointment; she.
They were so desperate for Cain's destruction, they were eager to believe anything. You can't expect anything else from mindless sheep.
Politico is now trying to portray Cain in a positive light, for having been out front at NRA with sexual harassment training and policy implementation.

They must really be scared $hitless of something!
I am livid with Michael Medved and Hugh Hewitt for the same reason.
No personal knowledge:
However, there may be more proof that Rove is gay than the current circus he and Politico are hoisting re Cain:

To use Karl’s own words with Sean this week re the Cain bs, “He needs to answer these serious questions!”
“I think hes really enjoying his victim status now and relishing the support of Rush and Hannity, etal and using it as a fund raising tool.”
I think you are right and I also believe that he could ride that support and money all the way to the nomination. If what I said earlier did not describe you, and you were insulted by it, I apologize. But understand that several of your cohorts have not be half as classy as you during this episode.
I hope and pray that Cain does not get the nomination.
I do not trust the man and my respect for him dwindles daily.
However, should he get the nomination, I will vote for him as ‘not as bad as Obama’
Who is?
I do think his devotees bear an eerie resemblance to the worshippers who were for Obama last time.
I think they are the Republican counterpart of Obama supporters, wanting a ‘different’ candidate with no record and no accomplishments in government.
I think Cain is a semi-decent man who is a conservative democrat at heart.
“However, should he get the nomination, I will vote for him as not as bad as Obama”
Ditto vis a vis my feelings on Perry. In fact if the choices by the time my primary comes are Perry or Romney, I’m voting for Perry.
“I do think his devotees bear an eerie resemblance to the worshippers who were for Obama last time.”
“I think they are the Republican counterpart of Obama supporters, wanting a different candidate with no record and no accomplishments in government.”
I think I can see a similarity in that nothing alleged about Cain seems to dissuade us from supporting him. It was the same for Obama and his supporters when he was running.
I admit that I am not really all that comfortable with that development.
“I think Cain is a semi-decent man who is a conservative democrat at heart.
I think he is better than that, but not much. I just feel like it is time to give a non-career politician a shot.
I long ago forgave Perry his attack on those of us that do not agree with him on the treatment of illegals in regards to in-state tuition. I can see WHY he wanted that policy even if I vehemently disagree with him on it. he is currently third on my depth chart behind Cain and Gingrich.
I can confidently say openly and honestly that I harbor no malice towards Governor Perry and I can see where he’d be at least as good as Bush as POTUS, possibly better in some areas.
Unfortunately that is not setting the bar really high as I view Bush as having been a horrible POTUS in two ways; Illegals and growth of government. If Perry were to keep his word on the border issues and “making government as inconsequential in our lives as possible” I think he’d be the best POTUS so far of this young century.
While I do not hate Perry or any of his supporters, I do find some of you highly annoying and will comment in negative ways in future Perry threads if I feel the need. My apologies in advance if this upsets you.
Of course that doesn’t upset me.
I do the same thing on Cain threads.
In fact, that is the most intelligent non-Perry post I’ve ever read.
Congrats.
“Anita Hill was a dumbell but she was a HOT dumbell (my favorite kind)”
Anita Hill? Hot, Sir?
I fear you are smack-faced drunk.
She testified under a near drug-induced coma. She is a pig.
seriously? you didn’t think she was a little hot?
she had a little bit of that Vanessa Williams look?
YES...I heard Medved today....he’s always been a Romney supporter, I believe....and Hewitt surprised me...he’s been playing long excerpts from FOX re: Cain .....VERY tiring...didn’t like that our station replaced Dennis Prager with Hugh Hewitt.....
“seriously? you didnt think she was a little hot?
Oh, Sir, I am not known for perfectionism in my appreciation of the fairer sex.
Maybe it was her-doped hp expression. Or maybe the prevading evil in her character revealed by her treacherous attack on Clarence Thomas (”A fair woman without discretion is like a jewel of gold in a swine’s snout.”)
Condi is beautiful. But Anita is totally unattractive to me. She even nauseates me-—like Barbra Streisand.
I think that is where we might differ- I didn’t see her as evil or treacherous- just stupid and naive.
Hot and stupid is a turn-on, for a little while at least
