Herman Cain Has a Powerful Enemy in Iowa[Hard-Core Evangelical Christian Host]

The harassment scandal highlights Cain's rift with Iowa's most dangerous conservative talker.

Herman Cain has messed with the wrong Iowan.

One strand of the multifaceted scandal unfolding around the Republican presidential candidate this week has been the charge that Cain treated female staffers of Des Moines-based radio host Steve Deace in a manner Deace found "awkward and inappropriate."

While Deace has refused to describe the interaction that prompted that characterization, he has also spent the week relentlessly pounding Cain on his nightly talk show -- and taking to task the conservatives who, at least at first, largely defended the former Godfather's Pizza CEO.

Deace says his major objections to Cain predated the scandal and are based on matters of substance. But there's no question that, for whatever reason, Cain has become the top target of Deace's fierce -- some would say demagogic -- ire.

And that could be a big problem for Cain. Because Deace isn't just any radio talker -- he can plausibly claim to be one of the most influential right-wing figures in the Hawkeye State. Four years ago, he played an instrumental role in Mitt Romney's loss, and Mike Huckabee's win, in the Iowa caucuses.

Now, Deace has his sights trained on Cain.

So he has no idea what Cain did (as none of us do) but he already declares judgment? Useful idiot.

It looks like you are right, but it also looks like Deace is making a massive mistake. Piling on Cain in the company of Godless moonbats w no real evidence at a time when conservatives are sick to death of smears, is stupid at best. I hope Deace is ready for the blowback.

“”Boy, these Herman Cain revelations are horrifying. The Des Moines Register has the inside scoop from “conservative radio host” Steve Deace:

“During his Oct. 3 broadcast in Iowa, Deace mentioned that Cain made a comment to a woman who was there to report on the radio interview for another news agency.

“Cain said, ‘Darling, do you mind doctoring my tea for me?’” Deace said.

Deace told the Register last month that he believes Cain was talking about adding honey and lemon, but that it was an awkward moment.”

I can well believe it. A tea needs doctoring like a woman needs a bicycle. Clearly such a man has no place in public life. Although, come to think of it, this Deace fellow sounds awfully patriarchal and proprietorial about “my female staffers”…””

Myabe the good people of Iowa need to delegitimize this guy and take away some of influence - especially if he is TOO stupid to understand what is really going on...

He's not stupid, he's a scumbag. He's trying to make a name for himself off Cain's problem.

Thank you both. This smear merchant, Deace, will hear from this Christian (me) about his shameful behavior. Sounds to me as if he had an agenda—accuse and attack Cain—and anything Cain said would be first twisted and then used against him. A request for milk and/or sugar in the tea now qualifies as sexual harassment? I haven’t even heard of a moonbat liberal going that far. It is disgusting.

Reminds me of those stories of gunfighters that never lost. Until they did. Cain is a different breed than what this guy is used to. His weapons may not work as effectively against Cain.

I guess we’ll see.

I saw that in your post. A thread yesterday claimed he supported Bachmann. Who knows. He’s trying to piggyback himself onto Cain’s issue to get his name out there. Scumbag.

“Cain said, ‘Darling, do you mind doctoring my tea for me?’” Deace said.

Unless Mr. Cain wasn't holding a cup of tea, but was instead doing a Michael Jackson crotch grab, when he said this -- I am flabbergasted how anyone could have felt "awkward" or intimidated by this remark.
What was the problem - they felt awkward and uncomfortable because they couldn't decide what he wanted in his tea, and they were afraid to ask? Or was it because he called her 'darling'?
I'm sure Mr. Deace would have had the vapors if Mr. Cain actually held a door open for a woman... I'm confused what this Deace fellow is complaining about...

“Cain said, ‘Darling, do you mind doctoring my tea for me?’” Deace said.

I'm sure Deace must be wrong. I'm CERTAIN that Cain said, "Darlin' . . . " not "darling". Makes a world of difference. Southern men use terms of endearment everywhere they go. Any woman who takes offense at that needs to grow up and appreciate it. If I were there, I would have smiled and said "Sure, Mr. Cain. How would you like it?"
