Oakland council leans toward ending Occupy camp (but would have gladly 'worked' with OCCUPYers)

Oakland -- A majority of the Oakland City Council indicated late Thursday that they would like an end to the Occupy Oakland encampment in front of City Hall, but they did not vote on any proposals.

The statements came at the end of a five-hour meeting during which hundreds of people crammed into the council chambers for an emotionally charged discussion about whether to allow the encampment to remain at Frank Ogawa Plaza with city support. Several times, the rowdy crowd shouted down city officials as they tried to speak.

But after hearing from speakers who support the camp and others who said it hurts the city, Councilwoman Desley Brooks, a strong supporter of the camp, expressed reservations.

"I believe and understand the lack of hope and pain and frustration that people are feeling," said Brooks, who represents the East Oakland and who had camped with protesters for the first two nights and had been a regular visitor. "But I have been extremely troubled by how far do we allow your rights to go and infringe on other people's rights."

Brooks said the City Council is one of the most progressive in the nation, but added that campers did not try to work with the council.

"This is a council that would have worked with you," she said.

Brooks emphasized that the movement had a greater significance than what campers may realize.

"This is bigger than Oakland," she said. "It's bigger than a space. The movement doesn't die because you aren't able to camp in front of City Hall."

Yeah, I think after you have basically an invading army torch part of your city and engage in domestic terrorism, you MAYBE might want to REMOVE THEM???

Watching a bunch of brats n rats is beyond boring. Give them 24 hours to leave and start isolating them from supplies.. Start by blocking their cell & wifi signals. Someone suggested Cs powder. Too bad I am a microbiology minor... Nothing devious I can think of lol. Seriously, their parents should be fined daily for clean up costs. Any parent who would fiscally support this deserves no less. A bunch of clearly deranged brats who aren’t potty trained. A real man or real woman will stand up without a mask, speak clearly what they believe. Useful idiots.

Useful idiocy resulteth in thy death at the hands of the oppressors. Learn from thy folly, O Oakland . . .

There is a showdown looming between the Occupiers and the Oakland Children's Christmas Parade.

If the parade, which draws as many as 100,000 to downtown Oakland, is disrupted, scaled back, or cancelled it will be end of the political careers of Oakland's current regime.

"This is a council that would have worked with you," she said.

You still can. When you get home tonight, break out all your windows, and spray paint anarchist slogans on the front of your house.

The Oakland P.D. needs to step up, just like they did in 2003 when another pile of excrement attempted to block shipments of supplies from the Port of Oakland to our brave men and women overseas. Here's a sample of the "ARTWORK" created by members of the Oakland P.D. Come on, Oakland...time to relive the glory days...
