Skeeter, I think that the POV of securing the border first, to the point that our country is comfortable having the convo would be part of the “enforce the laws” piece of this conversation.

But the “securing” part is a moving target, don’t ya know. Obama makes the argument that he is securing the border, and we all know that his idea of secure isn’t the same as yours and mine.

I think we have to put on the table that the liberals are the ones that want more illegals with a path to citizenship, and a motor voter registration card, so they’ll keep the libs in power.

So, what’s your definition of securing the border?

My definition is the literal one.

It means stopping unauthorized entry wherever physically possible on the border proper. It means inland enforcement including against employers who knowingly employ illegals. It means removing any and all governmental incentives encouraging illegal entry. It means discouraging states from offering incentives that make federal enforcement of immigration laws more difficult.

I will never compromise my POV on this issue, because I believe anything less will eventually have lethal consequences for our way of life.

I realize this definition isn't nuanced or accommodating enough for the squishes, but that's too bad.
