I bet 99% of the people who post here on FR could do a better job.

Yes, you are correct. My neighbors and most of my coworkers would also do a better job than Hussein. Being right isn't enough in politics - if it were we wouldn't have a 15 trillion dollar debt and a country going down the toilet. Lots of people are right on the issues, but the vast majority can't get elected. Not just anyone has the skill set required to get people to vote for them. We need a candidate that is both right on the issues AND can get elected. Cain seems to have good common sense, though I don't think he articulates policy particularly well - but he is a political novice who doesn't stand the slightest chance in the world of defeating Obama and his billion dollar political machine. Cain is still contradicting his own campaign manager on whether Anderson leaked the story to Politico. After all these days they STILL can't stay on the same page.

The question is, do you want a career politician who reacts to situation in the predictable (politically motivated) way, or do you want someone who will give it a little thought and consult his advisers as to the best course of action to follow?

I want a conservative who can actually win. I am not going to down the road of nominating people who can't win in order to feel really good about myself. This has all the hallmarks of the Christine O'Donnell and Sharon Angle fiasco's. Nominating folks who may be great on the issues but have little to no chance of winning is an exercise in utter pointlessness.

The issue here is, among the GOP candidates, who can do the best job.

If your asking who is actually right on almost every issue, I'd go with Bachmann. The problem is she would make a bad general election candidate. My next pick if I were just going by who is most right on the issues would be Santorum - again, he couldn't beat Hussein. Cain doesn't even articulate conservative positions very well, but he does have a sunny disposition and comes off as a happy warrior - problem is, I also think he'd lose badly to Hussein. So now I am down to perhaps having to support Newt - though he carries so much personal baggage and has such a difficult time staying focused that I don't give him great chances either.

..and then We the People, need to stand behind that man.

I will vote for whoever the GOP nominee is - even if I think they are a terrible choice.

Being right isn't enough in politics

Listen to what you just said! "Being right isn't enough in politics" I'm sorry, but I totally disagree. Being right is of the utmost importance to the resurrection of this nation.

We are in a dire situation right now. We need strong leaders, with strong convictions to lead us out of these tough times.

We don't need people in office with "skill sets" that get them elected. We need people who truly care about the direction this country is headed and care enough to put their ideas and reputations on the line. True patriots.

Nominating folks who may be great on the issues but have little to no chance of winning is an exercise in utter pointlessness.

Pointless as you see it, but where do you see the opposition to Obama coming from?

What we need is a leader who is diametrically opposed to the direction of our current leadership.

This is an issue that has not been explored. I wonder how many conservatives have let the Rat accusations of racism become internalized, in spite of their knowledge to the contrary, and are fighting to prove their innocence?
