Or like every other "deal", taxes now and spending cuts never.

Reagan fell for it.
Bush 41 fell for it.
Never again.

I'll make this deal: tax increases across the board (i.e. everyone is affected, not just the "rich"). I'll even offer a number: a 10% increase.

The catch? Two of them, actually:

  1. A balanced budget amendment.
  2. A separate amendment limiting federal spending to 20% of GDP.

When those amendments are ratified and enabling legislation is enacted and implemented now (not some time in the future), I'll consider a tax increase.

If the GOP succumbs to this, they are dead.

No one liked this super committee in the first place.

This is the reason why.

Boehner should step down. He is useless.

Reagan found that out the hard way. One CANNOT negotiate with the RAT party - they have no scruples, no moral compass.
