So do you then propose that the hundreds of pipelines that already cross the Ogallala be dug up?

(rolls eyes)

Please - spare me the ‘danger to ground water’ meme.

The depth of the water below the surface of the land ranges from almost 400 feet (122 m) in parts of the north to between 100 to 200 feet (30 to 61 m) throughout much of the south.

IF an oil spill posed a risk, what about all the ‘non-point source’ oil from road runoff, industry and so on - already in place?

That single pipeline could replace 100% of the oil we now buy from Saudi Arabia. And last I heard no Canadians have gone out of their way to kill Americans, unlike the Saudis.

OK, Hugo (Citgo) exports his oil to the US, hew want to bother with it as it is heavy oil. About 1000 bbl a day. XL goes through, Hugo can kiss his money gone....

The initial capacity of Keystone Pipeline is 435,000 barrels per day (69,200 m3/d) which will be increased up to 590,000 barrels per day (94,000 m3/d)

Who would **YOU** like to cross of this list?

He will do absolutely nothing that will benefit his enemies in TX.

Or, for that matter, any of the other 49 (or 56).

Sure hasn't got a big fan club in Montana.

How many pipelines crisscross this country. You folks have probably dumped more fertilizer into your aquifer over the years with how much effect, but I understand your NIMBY stance.

In a nice wrinkle to the story - many of the jobs (I’ve heard the number is around 10K) would likely go to union construction workers - so this one pits the labor bosses against the greenies.

Pass the pop corn.

Have they considered shipping the oil down the Mississippi? Gravity power is free.

Reeling from months of protests, President Barack Obama's advisers are worried that administration approval for a planned oil pipeline from Canada could cost him political support from Democrats in 2012.

Yet, strangely, wasn't it Obama who was just bloviating about putting the good of the country ahead of partisan politics?

Guess that his staff didn't get the message. Or maybe it was just the teleprompter talking...

Actually, it was just Obama lying again. SSDD and all that...

The Egyptians wasted their time and resources building the Pyramids for mythical god-pharaohs and we waste time and resources fighting mythical global warming

The pharaohs may not have been actual deities, but at least they were actual persons.

The cultural and intellectual elite want us to spend trillions on their fantasies...

I hope the farm lobby realizes that if they side with the greenies on this, they'll be fighting them when they attempt to use that water. Their goal is a pristine prairie returned to Ted Turner's buffalo herd. Once you enable the enemies of development, you may not like what follows. For years we've heard complaints the aquifer was being emptied, but then this miracle happened - precipitation.

I am quite sure they have I have seen references that the number of barges have increased in the last few years. The point of this pipeline is that it will help relive some of the bottlenecks for getting oil from Norther Alberta to market. In addition to barges, trains are also being used, but pipelines are the most efficient (those barges need towboats to keep them in the shipping channel).

Yes, I am sure you are right.

I did not mean to suggest that all his enemies were in TX (hee hee hee). But we certainly have the bullseye drawn on us.

But soon, in Nov. 2012 we may be able to redirect the targeting and rid our fine nation of these traitors.

God Bless the United States of America.
