That was fast: As part of its seemingly ever-evolving media strategy, Herman Cains campaign appears to have pulled the plug on blaming Rick Perry for the swirl of accusations surrounding the candidate.
We want to move on with the campaign. Lets get over these things that dont mean anything to the American public, Mark Block, Cain's campaign manager, told Fox News Megyn Kelly on Thursday afternoon.
But thats not about to become any easier. Politico reported Thursday that one of the women who accused Cain of sexual harassment during his time at the National Restaurant Assn. received a payout of $45,000 to settle the matter and keep quiet.
Previously, the New York Times reported that a second woman received a severance of $35,000which for her was a years salary.
The Politico report would seem to again put Cains credibility at issue. He has said the womans complaint is one that he recalls, but has described it as baseless and first said she received a negligible termination" settlement of perhaps two or three months' salary.
He later shifted his account, saying the amount could have been larger, perhaps six months salary.
Block appeared on Fox News on Wednesday evening and blistered the Perry campaign, accusing former Cain aide Curt Anderson, now in the Perry camp, of leaking details of the harassment allegations.
But Anderson, in a round of media interviews, denied knowing anything about the allegations and had nothing but good things to say about Cain.
I didn't know anything about this. It's hard to leak something you don't know anything about, of course, Anderson told CNN on Thursday.

I agree with you on the Cain account as he related it to Greta. Compliments are just that. We all know, however, that it is highly unlikley that it was but “compliments” that would run off two female staffers and cost the company 80 grand for two settlements. I believe that the witnesses probably came forward, which backed up the two complaints. Herb was gone too after only 3 short years.
Not to say that this is not a feeding frenzy going on from the despised media, but really? There are skeletons here that Cain said were not going to be found in his closet. He told us all was baseless. Two settlements are not with out basis. IMHO. :)
The payment of corporate settlements is not a great indicator of “guilt”. There may have been “guilt” involved, and there may instead have been a host of reasons why those who made the decisions decided it would be less costly and get the whole matter settled sooner, to make a settlement payment.
And in “sexual harassment” cases that is not so unusual, because most of them are he-said she-said situations and “guilty” or not, the accusation alone will always be enough to taint the defendant, in many peoples eyes, no matter what is done.
Sometimes, at the time, it seems better to get the matter settled and in the past, so that everyone can just move on.
I wish this is what Cain had said on day one. I believe it is likely how he feels.
No, Cain didn't go off on the talk shows. If you check he was ALREADY SCHEDULED. This rock thing showed up Sunday morning.
Cain camp backs off Perry charge as new payout details emerge
Thank you! Been a long time coming on that one!
” No, Cain didn’t go off on the talk shows. If you check he was ALREADY SCHEDULED. This rock thing showed up Sunday morning. “ <<<<
Thank you muamuahah, for the intricate details of CNN’s schedule, and appearance contracting with ole Herb who broke his leg trying to keep from indicting Perry with any negative comment whatsoever, in all those FOX and CNN shows, such as “insensitive”, nor connecting Rick in any way to the signage on the rock. He sat there like a golden dove and said nothing against Rick Perry, but waited ever so patiently for days having his team investigate the story before he uttered a word against Rick. An Angel of Pure White Light on all occasions where Rick is concerned. There. Satisfied.
LOL! You just get goofier by the day. Like I said, you’re consistent! :)
” .....and there may instead have been a host of reasons why those who made the decisions decided it would be less costly and get the whole matter settled sooner, to make a settlement payment.” <<<<<
Oh, I agree. Like maybe witnesses? And two settlements in three years with a third complaint who did not inhouse sue for settlement? There’s pretty much your “host of reasons”. LOL.
Where do you get this info?
So far, everything has boiled down to one woman and one payout of either $35,000 or $45,000, which was a one year severence pay. Everything else has been redacted.
That guy’s been trashing our conservative candidates and posters far too long. Finally got my fill of his obnoxious blather.
I’m trying to be as civil as possible with you about these accusations you keep throwing out there as though the reader should assume you have a source for them. But civility only goes so far when not reciprocated. I see you’ve now posted the same things on another thread as though they’re facts, including the unsubstantiated claim that Wilson says he told Cain “to cool it, it was embarrassing.” I suggest you find a source that backs that up, as well as your claim that the NRA paid out two separate settlements for a total of $80K +/-, if you plan to keep posting these same things on FR as though they’re facts.
Now you say “you believe” that witnesses came forward that backed up the complaints. You have no basis for that “belief”, which means it’s a fabricated smear. Why do that?
Please do not speak as to what “we all know”, because I’m starting to see that you may be embellishing and outright fabricating a few things in an attempted smear attack. I haven’t seen enough of your posts to know why you might do that, but it’s becoming predictable.
Thank you, Jim.
Rita, you spend entirely too much swallowing Leftwingtard MSM swill.
If you read up-thread a bit, she acknowledged an inability to produce a source or link for any of these embellishments and fabrications. Now, even after acknowledging that, she's gone to another Cain thread to repeat the same fabrications. It looks like a waste of time to try to discuss it with her, but maybe you'll have better luck than I did.
Good grief. Just trying to please, and you’re still on a tangent? Cain is the golden boy, Cain is the Golden boy, Cain is the golden boy, Cain is the golden boy. Cain is the olden boy, Gain is the noglden goy. There. A little humor thrown in. Okay? Sheesh.
