in the immediate area around Frank Ogawa Plaza, where thousands had gathered for a mostly peaceful protest Wednesday. Some windows also are broken, and debris is littering the street.

Gotta love the media. For that matter, Los Angeles was "mostly peaceful" after the Rodney King verdict too.

We could say the same about the riots of the ‘60s. There were only certain disburbances in certain neighborhoods of our major cities after Dr. King was shot. Only certain parts of Detroit were destroyed during the ‘67 riot there. Etc. etc. We can be selective if we want to spin things.
