Sometimes things like this that happen are best untold.
One of my former bosses, a colonel, related the story of one of his friends, a (married) colonel who happened to be a base commander. He and a (married) female captain who worked for him attended a conference at Maxwell AFB. They both attended a banquet the last evening of the conference and they both of them drank much more than they should have. The captain woke up in the colonel’s bed in VIP quarters the next morning after what apparently was a night of consensual sex. The captain apparently had remorse for what she willfully had done and, thinking “OMG, what will I tell my husband?”, reported to the security police that she had been raped.
The colonel was arrested and court-martialed, and his wife filed for divorce. At the court-martial the captain admitted that the sex had been consensual and the colonel was acquitted of the rape charge. The end result was that two careers and two marriages were needlessly destroyed.
It's not an accident, and it is avoidable by making better choices. It's not enough to disqualify Cain, if it is true, but it would be bad news in terms of his character. In any case, I still haven't seen anything worth listening to.
Its not always a good thing to have a conscience.
I think I’ve heard this story. Didn’t the Captain end up marrying the Colonel, or am I confusing it with some other story?
