WASHINGTON (AP) -- Texas Gov. Rick Perry says his campaign didn't provide the media with information about sexual harassment allegations against his GOP presidential rival Herman Cain.
In an interview with the conservative blog RedState on Wednesday, Perry said he and his campaign learned about the allegations in a Politico story published Sunday.

I don’t really care about the original story. Most men in business offend people along the way, both sexes.
But to a woman making $35,000 a year, $35,000 is a lot of money. Not all of us are rich and think that sum is peanuts. Plus it was even more back then.
But having said that, I think everyone was on Cain’s side when the story broke.
But ever since then, Cain has gone into a self-destructive cycle with some shots at Perry along the way.
He is not substantive or professional.
He’s not presidential material.
Cain's appeal is largely due to the other candidates in the race. Romney will be hard pressed to ever have Conservative backing. Perry (and I do respect your support for him) has repeatedly damaged himself with poor debate performances and his continued emphases supporting a position that angers Conservatives. Gingrich is still a possibility if he can make people forget about some of his past actions and statements. Looking at the rest of the field, I don't see anyone gaining any traction.
It's amazing that a Republican Party that claims to represent Conservative values (perhaps falsely so), which could have such an easy path to regaining the White House in 2012, is in the process of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. As one who is still unhappy with all of my choices, I remain in the “hoping for the best” camp.
Guess we shall see whether this destroys Cain or not-at this point I say not. His credentials IMO are impressive. I have met him and heard him speak. Our money and support are solidly behind him. Perry is my governor and I did vote for him last election but considering the option at the time... I do know from experience that candidate’s staff does not operate in a bubble. Who leaked the info? We may never know and quite frankly I don’t care.
You may be right about Cain’s support not being that deep and you are definitely right about him being the choice of a lot of people who just weren’t attracted by the other candidates.
One shouldn’t judge the world by Free Republic, though it’s kinda tempting if you spend a lot of time here.
The Cain supporters on this site certainly appear to be excessively devoted to the guy and very defensive about any criticism of him.
Fortunately, I really like Perry and think he would make an excellent president, but he has my support but it’s not fanatical as some of the Cain support seems to be.

I have really been surprised at the comments of some Cain supporters. They insult the intelligence and integrity of Perry supporters by calling them "Liars", "Stupid", and make other insulting comments. I'm not saying Cain is guilty of sexual harassment, because it's just an allegation, but I do think he has lied to and misled his supporters with his explanations of his recollection of this matter. They are quick to believe any allegation, without proof, against Perry, but almost go berserk in defense of a man who has not been honest! I do not believe Cain has been fully vetted, so how can anyone think he is the best candidate available? He may be a very good man in many ways, but the fact remains he has not acted very honorable when he denies knowledge of accusations against him, and when he blames a man for something without proof.
Only deserves our contempt. This is the actions of a disgusting coward.
