Was the recent attack on Herman Cains presidential campaign a professional hit job? Absolutely, says Herman Cain. And he says he knows just where to look for the guy who did it: At 815 Slaters Lane in Alexandria, Virginia, a low-slung former warehouse in the shadow of a coal plant.

I agree but it reeks of the Dems more.
To me it smelled like an Obama op from the get go (leaking sealed records in a civil case) but everyone said too early.
I do think that Cain’s campaign will now join Perry’s in being toast.
More accusations are coming out:

Yes, indeed. Totally agree. And there is no excuse for not having such a statement prepped and ready within his team.
One of the very few conservative candidates has apparently just Borked himself.
My policy reasons for supporting Cain are clearly outlined in every speech he gives. If you’re not able to, or have not had the opportunity to hear any of them, I might suggest that you search “cain” on youtube.
My vociferous dislike of Perry is instinctive, I have known slick hucksters like this all of my adult life. I despise them and I’d vote for Romney over this slick ricky.
Here’s my thought. These “incidents” probably were in casual social settings, with Cain and participants having a few drinks, perhaps to the point of inebriation, and things were said, suggestions made, spurnings occurred, and awkwardness ensued.

Good luck.
In that case, we need someone a little less naive as a candidate to be able to handle the heat.
Good luck.
“What if they WANT to run against Romney and dont want anyone to spoil The Plan?”
They probably view Willard as someone they can “control.” Or at least roll him to take their side on key legislation.
Plus, I doubt that they think he’d try to repeal Obamacare but, unless I’m badly mistaken, all the other pubbies say the will.
Trivial
The response is: plausable deniability for the Perry campaign.
(1) Anderson contacts Perry campaign and says he has dirt on Cain.
(2) They come to a handshake agreement, he’ll leak the story and then AFTER the story has been leaked he’ll join the Perry campaign.
(3) He leaks the story to Politico.
(4) A week latter, he joins the Perry campaign.
IF he ends up being the person who leaked the story, how much do you want the bet the first line out of the Perry campaign will be “He wasn’t working for use YET”?
The timing makes perfect sense. In fact, it makes more sense than him doing it AFTER he joined the Perry campaign.
It allows Perry to be 100% behind it, yet make public cliams that they had nothing to do with it.
The way Rove took down ODonnell, this is coming from the same bed that snake is in.
Yes of course.
Example: “I can’t give you names but it turns out Cain was forced to settle a couple of sex harassment suits when he was at the NRA, etc.”
Pretty standard stuff.
Could someone post a brief timeline of the players/incidents so I can look at them?
Anyone..
You’re slow (timing wise). See post 250.
Nevertheless.
“I know a slimy pretender when I see one”.
I would say that about Romney but not Perry. The truth is, we don’t really have any great contenders this time around so many are latching on to Cain as the great savior. Sound familiar? He seems like a decent, accomplished gentleman - but president? I just don’t get the fascination.
but there was nothing in zer0’s background that needed vetting...
