Uh oh: Witness found to Cain incidents? (Linked to ... Perry supporters??)
Hotair ^ | 11/02/2011 | Ed Morrissey

So far, neither of the two alleged complainants from Herman Cain’s tenure at the National Restaurant Association have come forward publicly, although it appears at least one would like NRA to release her from her confidentiality agreement to do so. However, a pollster who worked for NRA at the time told KTOK in Oklahoma that he witnessed both incidents — and that if the women talk, Cain’s candidacy would be over:

Interviewed today on KTOK’s Mullins in the Morning, [Chris] Wilson, of Wilson-Perkins-Allen Opinion Research headquartered in Washington, D.C. explained he was a witness to the incident. “I was the pollster at the National Restaurant Association when Herman Cain was head of it and I was around a couple of times when this happened and anyone who was involved with the NRA at the time, knew that this was gonna come up.”

Wilson described the woman as a low level staffer who was maybe two years out of college. “This occurred at a restaurant in Crystal City (Virginia) and everybody was aware of it,” he continued. “It was only a matter of time because so many people were aware of what took place, so many people were aware of her situation, the fact she left—everybody knew with the campaign that this would eventually come up.”

Wilson claims that he also can’t discuss the specifics, for legal reasons. I’m not quite clear as to what that might be. He may have signed a broad non-disclosure agreement with NRA to get the polling work, but if that’s the case, he just violated it with this statement today. Unless he also participated in the settlement/severance agreements with the women, he’s as free to discuss the details as the fact that he witnessed them. And it’s difficult to see how Wilson would have been involved in a settlement between NRA and the two employees.

However, Wilson isn’t only linked to NRA and Cain from years gone by. His firm has conducted polling in this presidential race for the Make Us Great Again PAC. And guess which candidate is favored by MUGA-PAC? Why, none other than … Rick Perry. The PAC has no formal connection to Perry’s campaign, but it’s certainly boosting Perry as the Republican nominee in the primary.

Could Wilson be more than just a witness in this story? Could he be a source? It could just be a coincidence that a witness to these alleged incidents did work for an organization pushing Perry, and that the story mysteriously got to Politico as Cain took support away from Perry in mid-October. If he is the source, then conducting an interview on the topic has to be one of the dumber political moves I’ve seen.

Update: Some are saying that this indicates Romney as the source of the leak, but I’m not terribly convinced that a one-time donation means much. Romney has less to fear with Cain as his main opponent than others in the race, and besides, no one knows whether Anderson ever knew about the incidents at all. Other board members say they didn’t. YMMV, however.

held a CEO positions like Herman Cain where you were responsible for hundreds and thousands of employees and had lawyers who handled severences and legal matters, right?

Here's the problem. Herman made it his trademark to remember names. From a recent news report: Herman Cain's former employees at Godfather's Pizza recall him as an energetic and dynamic leader. They say he listened to new ideas and went out of his way to remember everyone's name and wanted his team to do the same.

Second the NRA has something less than 100 employees at it home office. While you may not be close friends with everyone, believe me, with around 100 people, you know just about everyone. As an example, my wife who was an executive at a company that employed about 250 say someone at the grocery she worked with 15 years ago last night. Both remembered each others names, even though she was executive and he was an hourly on the floor. And for the next hour they each rattled off names and little tidbits about each name.

Most men who have strong morals and convictions hate the thought of a sexual harassment situation. For most men who have those strong morals and convictions, they would remember.

Me too. If these acts are so terribly egregious, would Cain really have performed them in front of a witness?

Cain's staff, or whatever it is, has known about the harrassment charges for 10 or 12 days and did nothing!

It's beginning to look like Cain went on a book tour because he can't run a compaign!

Well, lets see some full vetting of the very needed to be vetted Perry and Romney too.

I don’t have a problem vetting. My goodness I have been trying to put out the facts about the above mentioned for weeks now.

Seems that some camps would rather play ostrich than take a good vetting.

You know how it works. When its your guy, why he is clean as driven snow.

"Cain is toast. He has made too many misstatements (claiming he’s “joking”) and has been too evasive about the facts concerning the sexual misconduct issues. He’s done. He just doesn’t realize it yet. Like it or not, we are going to be stuck with Romney as the Republican nominee.

I think you're right on. Cain may not be toast with conservatives, who generally like him, but as far as getting 50.1% of the general election vote, that ship has sailed. The press will hammer away at this unmercifully and it will sway just enough of the undecided to make him a close second. Looks like Romney is warming up in the bullpen. Not what I was hoping for, but that's what we're going to get.

It would take a televised court appearance to satisfy all of you moderates that this conservative is not charged with anything. America has become an ugly place because of people with viscious natures. Cain is a capable conservative and you all just can’t stand that! Meanwhile he’s beating Romney in the Polls, and Perry is at single digits. Face reality!

Go Herman Cain! To support this fine man, please send your generous checks to:

Perry will stay with the Republican camp if he absolutely has too, and he’ll want to if he wants to get anything done with a Republican Congress and Senate. I don’t think Mitt Romney would care as much. If the allegations against Cain prove to be true, Perry would be the nominee to back against Romney. Romney will have no problem going to his roots, but Perry’s voter block, which relies on the Tea Party, will keep him “mostly” in line.

Yeah! And that is why he leads in the latest pols over Romney while Perrywinkle is at single digits!

Incidentally, you might try reading his book. In it he answers any question you could think to ask him. It’s called, “This is Herman Cain” I cannot think of a better man to run the country today!

Don’t release her from the confidentiality agreement. Sure, she can break the agreement on her own and sell her story to the highest five bidders and make more than what she would have to pay back.

But then the restaurant association can turn around and sue her for millions for breaking the agreement.

“Stop posting lies, the stupid womans attorney does not have a copy of the paper work and said so, also said it was handled by mail/fax. No one was sued for jack”

Not only that the womans attorney could not remember the case and did not know it was Herman Cain when first interviewed. The woman is probably now getting “coached” by the DNC.

Well just suppose some gal flrtted with you but you didn’t respond. She was furious and decided to ruin your chances for a big promotion in the company you both work for. So she decides to take her revenge by filing suit accusing you of a sexual harassment. You were very busy, with a tight schedule and more important problems to solve, and being a practical man, decided to settle with her rather than pursuing a counter suit. That way you don’t spend your precious time on fighting false charges, and you save a bundle on attorney’s fees. What would you do?

What most do not know is that “sexual harassment” charges can be very difficult to bring against someone.

The guidelines vary state to state. You nearly always have to have several witnesses that are willing to give written statements, and are subjected to interviews.

No company is going to pay even a small settlement to make a nuisance accusation go away, because it does tag them negatively, as well as opening the door to many similar accusations, UNLESS there are credible witnesses willing to go on record.

A woman making the claim with nothing to back it up will be ignored. Hell, most all lawyers will tell them to get lost and don’t come back without some proof. Won’t even give them a face to face appointment I’d bet.

You should check out what filing such a claim in NY requires! You pretty much have to have the “harassment” captured on video over a period of months LOL.

Honestly, at this point, I dont care WHO leaked it, I'm just glad they did it NOW. We need to get this stuff out in the open and in the clear, the sooner the better. I am a big Cain fan, but this needs to come to some kind of adequate resolution before I support him in the primary.

You can be SURE that if this were not leaked now, the Democrats would have leaked it next October, so lets have at it and see what sticks.
