Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly trying to rally support for an attack on Iran, according to government sources.
Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman are said to be among those backing a pre-emptive strike to neutralize Iran's nuclear ambitions, Sky News reports.
A "narrow majority" of ministers currently oppose the move, which could lead to retaliation.
In response to reports of an effort to gain cabin approval on Netanyahu's proposal, Lieberman said: "Iran poses the most dangerous threat to world order."
Lieberman added that Israel's military options should not be a matter for public discussion.

Israel needs to let loose the dogs of war sooner rather than later...
If Ron Paul becomes president he’ll punish Israel since Iran isn’t a threat or so he told me during a debate.
Yes, Israel has a window between now and Jan. 20, 2013, when Ron Paul is sworn in.
"It'll be our little secret."
Everybody Wang Chung tonight.
There are 100,000 missiles pointed @ Israel..that is their issue. Once they hit Iran...those missiles go. That is the problem..no missiles, Israel would have already hit the nuke site.
So much for a surprise attack...sheesh...
BREAKING:WH CONDEMNS ISRAEL
We all know whose side Obama is on
Iran has built much of its nuclear infrastructure deep underground and dispersed it throughout the country. Air strikes on a few installations would not disarm Iran for long. What is Israel going to do, invade?
Are you seriously suggesting that Iran has 100,000 medium-range ballistic missiles? I highly doubt that. At best, they have a few hundred, maybe up to a thousand or so (but that’s highly unlikely). These types of missiles are very large and VERY expensive.
Even Israeli intelligence puts the number of Shahab-3 missiles in the low hundreds:
http://www.haaretz.com/news/israel-worried-by-report-iran-has-tripled-its-missile-arsenal-1.285505
And Israel has an anti-ballistic missile shield (Arrow) to defend against these very missiles.
All better.
Israel is making political moves, not military. If Israel were serious about action we would hear about as after action reports and lots of liberal and MSM wailing and gnashing of teeth, not as rumors that something is going to happen. Nd if it appears successful, by the way, look for the kenyan to take big credit even if the US military was in no way involved.
100,000 Syrian, Hizballah and Hamas rockets awaiting Israel when the attack begins.
I hope somebody at Pantex set aside a couple of those last few B-53 9-megaton bunker-busters and slipped 'em to the Izzies ......
Come to think of it, by now the Izzies have their own.
