Free Republic founder Jim Robinson has a message for supporters of Mitt Romney: go away.
In an email to POLITICO this afternoon, Robinson admitted that the site routinely blocks Romney supporters from posting -- and offered no apologies for the practice:
Free Republic is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-small government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty site. Governor Romney is none of the above. His record is that of an abortionist, gay rights pushing, gun grabbing, global warming advocating, big government, mandate loving, constitution trampling, flip-flopping liberal progressive with no core values. That and the fact that he is the chief architect and advocate for ObamaCare disqualifies him for any consideration whatsoever on Free Republic as a potential nominee for the presidency.

You’re encouraging bad behavior. LOL
Hatred = opposition is a very Liberal concept in my experience..
Having Romney in the White House won’t give US (I mean conservatives, I’m not sure what you mean.)any control.
Hey, I’ll not make an exception—even for you.
You may have heard this directed your way in the past: “Don’t bother arguing with an _____; all you’ll do is annoy the ___, and frustrate yourself”.
Yeah, come on now, you’ve heard that before; I’m even letting you fill in the blank.
“Atheists and non-Christians can literally have more in common with conservatives than Romney.”
I am not a religious person and I have nothing in common with Romney. He is a liberal from New England that just happens to have an ‘R’ in front of his name.
I don’t despise him because he is Mormon, I despise him because he does not stand up for my most important values. Actually he goes 180 degrees in the other direction. He is another Obama with less of a tan.
I only ran into one Romney supporter and I see lots of people everyday. Luckily, this person wanted to listen to me and very quickly is now backing Cain.....and bashing Romney.
What?
LOL.
I think it will give us much more pull and influence (”control”, if you will) knowing that he would want a Congress (with many conservative Republicans) to actually originate and move legislation forward. You know, actually do something to help the country.
If he is not sufficiently responsive, he faces what Obama has in Congress now—rebellion within his own ranks. That is not a good formula for reelection.
Further, I think that we are likely to get much better political appointees, Cabinet members, and Justices nominated (and actually confirmed).
Those are my primary reasons. I do not consider him a Palin or Cain or Gingrich, but he is not the Anti-Christ or an idiot, either.
Your thoughts?

If posters don’t like and/or understand FR they are free to leave. Whining is childish. FR is not going to change it’s purpose for them.
And maybe you’ve heard this one, troll. Don’t piss down my leg and well me it’s raining.
This can’t end well. I believe it’s best that we simply part company.
Bye.
Jim,
First I do want to say I share many of those beliefs with you, despite a different preference in nominee. That aside, I was around here reading (just reading, of course) when you didn’t have much negative opinion (or at least had not voiced it yet) of Romney (circa 2007). There was a small, but valiant group for each of the candidates, including Giuliani. They were met by larger, and even more valiant opposition. It made for a great discourse. I enjoyed reading the politics of this site then more - it was fun. I thought it seemed more open then. I tend to disagree with some of your statements regarding Romney, after reading nearly everything that’s been said against him here. And I’m quite sure you’ve made your opinion, I don’t have time nor interest to change yours or others opinion regarding a choice of nominee. I think it is rather unnecessary to silence members merely for their difference in political nominee. Just my subjective two cents.
Significant investment as in time, real-life interactions with other members on this site, or long history of active participation. I care about this country by working long hours, finishing a degree, and hopefully having a good family in the future.
This will probably be my last post to this thread unless something really interesting comes up. Have fun.
||FR is free if you want it to be. You don’t have to give...And I suspect you never have. Prove me wrong.
— Meant free as in free opinion. And by give, be more specific, no need to beat around the bush.
||Oh you forgot to mention, “hate”, “bigot”..and maybe even “murderer” in your post.
— That comes from... where? Your rush to instigation leads me to believe this reply and perhaps future discourse with you is/would be unproductive. Prove me wrong.
