HIDALGO COUNTY - The six suspects accused of taking part in Sundays shooting of a Hidalgo County deputy went before a judge to face charges Tuesday.
The suspects were charged with possession of marijuana. Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino says five of the suspects are illegals and only one is a U.S. citizen. Trevino says his office is working to add more charges linked to the deputy's shooting. He says the suspects will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.
The injured deputy is expected to recover. Sheriff Lupe Trevino says the shooting was a case of spillover violence. He says the battle for control of the Gulf Cartel has reached across the border.
The sheriff says the gunman in the shooting was contracted to find a lost load of marijuana for the Gulf Cartel.
Too bad the cops didn’t kill ‘em all.

I saw Linda Chavez on FOX this morning advising GOP candidates to stop talking about border control because “Americans just don’t care about it”.
Shoot! All this time, I thought I was an American...
Maybe she was talking about all but us hyphenated (law-loving-)Americans...
It’s OK, Linda, Sheriff Trevino is a DEMOCRAT who didn’t believe in Spillover until Sunday.
Sadly, many “Americans just don’t care about it” is the truth. Border issue threads here on FR usually get only about 20 posts. Two or three times lately I have seen posters say we should stick to only the important issues when someone questions a candidate’s position on border issues.
I hope people wake up and realize the border issues are no longer just a problem for those of us that live here, but are impacting every single citizen in ways they cannot imagine. With the cartels gaining more ground every day it will at some point get their attention when it gets messy enough.
