The newspaper has a circulation of approximately 32,000, distributed for free on Capitol Hill and elsewhere in Washington, D.C
Politico was founded in 2007 in advance of the Obama election by former Washington Post political reporters Jim VandeHei and John F. Harris.
At the time, they positioned Politico as "non-partisan," but I think most people knew that they were just laying down a deep cover for future reporting.
