Santorum aide: Cain should be more ‘forthcoming’ on sexual harassment allegations
The Daily Caller ^ | 11/01/2011 | Alex Pappas

Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum’s presidential campaign on Tuesday called on GOP frontrunner Herman Cain to be more “forthcoming” about harassment allegations dating back to his leadership of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s.

Santorum adviser John Brabender made the remarks during a forum of top aides to the 2012 presidential campaign managers in Washington D.C. hosted by the National Journal. Brabender appeared irked during the discussion when Cain’s campaign manager suggested Cain is the front-runner of the race.

“What I would encourage the Cain people to do is if you are the front-runner and you plan to be the nominee to be forthcoming so that you are vetted and we that we don’t get into a situation where you’re the nominee and we find things after the fact,” Brabender said.

No problem at all. What you don’t know or remember in the morning you research and gather details on to update later.

My dad just called me and said the same thing. He told my mom that the guy lost all credibility with him because of the inconsistencies.

He also added that he thought the two "wench's" probably made it up but Cain's 2 day explanation starting with knowing nothing about it and ending up knowing every detail was BS.

For the record while I support Perry my dad does not and remains somewhat undecided.

Santorum is a weasel. First he sounded like a petulent brat over the media merely reporting the fine speech Perry made on the middle east a couple months back...

“I’ve forgotten more about Israel than Rick Perry knows about Israel,” Santorum said during a conversation with POLITICO on Tuesday, while Perry was addressing a rally of people opposed to the Palestinian statehood vote in New York. “There he is, reading a speech that I’m sure he didn’t write, and has never taken a position on any of this stuff before, and [the media is] taking this guy seriously.”

Now he’s got his aides doing his dirty work for him on Cain. Instead of attacking the lefty media for pushing such a non-scandal, he has join in their attack. What a pathetic, small, desparate man. No wonder he lost by 20 points last time he ran for Senate.

I really don’t give a $#!t what Polutico has to say on anything. They are working full steam for the WH and there is no doubt in that. Jonathan Martin was the one who wrote that Palin was a diva and blew off interviews with Rush, Levin and Hanitty with out a shred of evidence. When the three called him out as a liar, he made no retraction. That is what they do there.

The problem I have is the admission that he knew about this all along if you go just by the Greta interview. He didn’t say that he researched this or called the lawyers or anything of the sort. He talked as though he knew the details all along. Having been involved in lawsuits of a business nature now and again over the past 15 years in my work, I remember all the details of these things no matter how small. It isn’t the baselessness of the allegations here. It is how Cain handled it in my opinion.

If this was a last minute allegation like the weekend before the 2000 election with the Bush DUI charge, it could sink a campaign with these changing stories. Give the full story once or don’t say anything. Posted elsewhere here today was a Laura Ingraham interview with her looking for clarity on this so I am not the only one who raised their eyebrow a bit in that Greta interview.

Santorum should be more forthcoming in issuing his annoucement dropping out of the race. In Santorum's case, the standard liberal mantra of "conservative = stupid" is actually true. Last time out he lost his own state by 20%!

Let me give you some political advice as someone who has been involced in political campaigns since Reagan was President.

The last place you and your candidate want to be is on the wrong side of a public opinion freight train. You would be wise to simply stay silent rather then try to side against most of your party's political base.

Beat Cain on the issues if you can. Trying to slime him like this is going to get you run over by your own party's base.

And Cain won his Senate seat by how much last time out? Since when is winning or losing political races a disqualifier?

I would suggest it's a disqualifier when the loser is one who has already held the seat, and then gets tossed out by his constituents by such a wide margin.

We have no idea where the base is on any of this yet. I don’t see an issue with Santorum discussing vetting here. That is what these Primaries are for after all. Let’s get this crap out and over with while most people don’t care and then we can focus 100% on destroying Obummer.

As opposed to a guy who couldn’t even win a Primary. He was creamed in it BTW. If you didn’t know, ‘06 was a bloodbath for the GOP, especially in Blue states. Santorum won twice in PA running as an unflinching Conservative both times. That is a remarkable feat.

I don’t see an issue with Santorum discussing vetting here.

It's curious to me Santorum's exclusive focus on Cain. Why is Santorum not calling for Cain's anonymous accusers to be more forthcoming, as in revealing their true identities, so we can judge for ourselves their credibility?

Or does Santorum by chance already know the identity of Cain's anonymous accusers? Who knows? We're now left to speculate since Santorum refuses to be more forthcoming about his knowledge of Cain's anonymous accusers.

"The charge by Polutico looks baseless, but the way Cain handled it concerns me. You don’t have a problem with this?"

I agree, from what I hear his campaign was aware that political was sitting on this story for a while. There is no reason why his campaign could not have actually gotten out in front of the story and announced that such accusations were coming. The way this whole thing was handled was very unprofessional.

You are so in the tank for Cain you could never see clearly.

The fact you say you are a delegate is scary.

By the way, I am just as much "the base" as you are. I am looking to win this election you are looking to be a martyr, lose and be able to bitch for 4 more years.

I'm in this to beat Obama and Cain is the worst back peddler I have seen in years. Obama could put 3 commercials back to back to back where Cain's own words expose him, Obama wouldn't even have to speak.
