Newton's Law of Physics. For every action, there is an opposite and equal reaction. How foolish of them!!

They sewed the wind and they now reap the whirlwind (of conservative backlash). You would think they would be much more clever than that. They only radicalized the base for Herman even further, they cause people to open their wallets one more time, and only in their own deluded, isolated, beltway bubble are they patting themselves on the back at tony Georgetown Dem/RINO Establishment parties over their "successful character assassination of Herman Cain, followed by pile-one wurlitzer pack dog journalism, and derailing his campaign". Yeah, in your DREAMS maybe. THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THE UNWASHED MASSES AT THE GRASSROOTS IN FLYOVER AMERICA THINK ABOUT THIS. By and large, it will only fortify Herman Cain's support more deeply. And THAT is what is going to make Liberal Heads -- and RINO Establishment I might add-- Explode even more-so in the next ten days when they see the PR monster they have created. LOL. Rake in the campaign bucks, big guy. We got your 'six. (And folks, donate to FR to keep the lights on here, while you are at it).

Since being a Monthly Donor is a really GOOD thing, we signed up as a monthly donor to Herman Cain’s campaign. But when this came out, we kicked in another contribution, both to Herman and to FreeRepublic.com!

This was going to come out sooner or later and the "story" will evolve over the coming weeks. With that much time left before the Iowa Caucus and the first primaries I think the Cain campaign can not only recover but could use what is clearly a hit job to solidify its base. The accusations hardly amount to a bimbo eruption, much less being found in bed with a live boy or a dead girl.

Of course, that assumes he and his people are competent players of the Conservative media strings and don't panic, and especially if they can somehow (true or not) tie this disclosure in the public's mind to the Romney campaign. For better or worse I think Perry has shot his wad and should probably turn tail back to Texas. And Romney is like McCain with much heavier baggage and no "war hero" status to fall back on. So if Cain's people can hold their water, not panic, and play innocent injured party, they might be able to turn this lemon into lemon aid.

I predicted yesterday that this would backfire huge on the drive-bys. Our side specifically, but all sensible people, are just sick and tired of the media picking the candidates and doing their sniper routine on conservatives.

REALLY stupid politic move by the GOP machine on this one.

I completely agree. If they're not going to openly support Cain, the least they could do is take a more neutral approach. Reagan would be flabbergasted to see today's GOP ripping at itself as it does.

Whether true or not... With this backlash, I have a sneaking suspicion that Politico might leak that this disclosure originated from the Republican side. The interesting question is who they would try to pin it on.

Very true... and there may be some credibility to that, given a Perry-backing Tweeter stating “watch what happens when the oppo hits Cain.” This was before accusation went up.

So, my question is... what does the Perry campaign know.. and when did they know it?

Something else .. at the debates, have you also noticed the candidates began firing at each other AFTER Perry joined in? Pre-Perry debates were far more focused on Obama than on each other. IMO, Perry brought some poison into the mix that’s damaged every candidate, including himself.
