Less than two months ago, on the day after the 10th anniversary of September 11th, the Obama Administration suspended the most successful alien-interdiction program on the northern border.
Border Patrol agents based in Rochester and Buffalo, who had taken thousands of illegal aliens into custody, were ordered to stand down.
Specifically, a highly successful long-term monitoring of interstate buses and Amtrak trains was ordered to stop. Rochester and Buffalo became, for all intents and purposes, free-transit zones for illegal aliens.
From the best enforcement in the northern tier of states, to no enforcement at all in response to orders from Washington.
That happened September 12.
What happened Sunday night may be related.
On Sunday night, at 7, in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart in Albion roughly midway between Rochester and Buffalo three illegal aliens saw a lone middle-aged woman walking to her car.
She was parked under a light, with four surveillance cameras above her.
They followed her.
They overtook her.
One of them stabbed her. Over and over. Pulling her head back by the hair, witnesses said, and slashing. Among her wounds were two on each side of her spine, likely puncturing both of her lungs.
Because one of them wanted her car keys.
Thats what Luis A. Rodriguez-Flamenco told deputies.
He grabbed the car keys and he stabbed the woman. She screamed. She bled. She drifted in an out of consciousness. A passerby who put his car between the victim and her fleeing attacker stroked her face and shouted for her to hang on as she lived her last conscious moments.
She was pronounced at the hospital. If she truly lived that long, her golden hour was cut short by almost 20 minutes. And at 45, her life expectancy was cut short by almost 40 years.
A completely random crime. She didnt know the attacker and his friends, and they didnt know her. She was just a woman who walked alone out of the Wal-Mart.
A woman whose government has abandoned its obligation to enforce either its laws or its borders.
The one with the knife was from Honduras, the two wingmen were from Mexico, and they were all in the country illegally.
Were they farm workers? Where they drug runners? Were they doing the jobs Americans wont?
Or were they just jackals who, having arrived in violation of one law, werent too bothered breaking another law.
We dont know.
Nor do we know if any of the three would have been apprehended by the Border Patrol if the Obama Administration hadnt shut down bus and train screening. But while you cant be certain if doing something would have caught them, you can know without a doubt that doing nothing certainly didnt catch them.
And she is dead.
And the politicians, people and agencies who facilitate the presence of illegal aliens in Orleans, Monroe, Erie and adjoining counties have blood on their hands.
Certainly, the Obama Administrations suspending of routine enforcement efforts has to be suspect. But so also should be the various non-profit and activist groups that provide support to illegal aliens in this region.
Also guilty are the farmers and orchardmen who draw the illegals by offering them work.
Ditto for the politicians. Local Congresswoman Louise Slaughter has one of the most illegal-alien friendly voting records in the House of Representatives. She has repeatedly voted against securing the border and giving local and state law-enforcement officers the power to question suspected illegal aliens.
Senator Chuck Schumer, for his part, is a repeated promoter of massive amnesty plans for illegal aliens.
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has publicly ripped Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents for doing their jobs.
In short, elected officials are on the side of illegal aliens. So is the pervasive political correctness of the region and country. The media are completely sympathetic to illegal aliens and questions about the influx of illegals into the community are denounced as racist and xenophobic.
As Albion and the communities surrounding it like any number of communities all across America are increasingly dominated by illegal aliens, lawlessness is on the increase.
As we saw Sunday night in the Wal-Mart parking lot.
Now an innocent woman has died.
And people are mad.
And we wait to see if the government will do anything about it.
The Obama Administration told the Border Patrol to stop what it was doing. Unfortunately, that left nobody to tell the illegal aliens to stop what they were doing.
And an innocent woman paid with her life.
Then I am racist and xenophobic, too.
Sandrat - is this an evil connected to the date September 11th?
Please pass it on.
Nearly every day I see a new story about how the feds are suing this state or that to stop identifying illegals. Today, it's a story about the Feds stomping on South Carolina.
Don't know how this will all end, but when the federal government is so blatantly against We The People, we are obligated to do something about it.
Meanwhile, American citizens need to show a passport to cross the border from Canada to the US.
Truly an upside down world.
Great post - someone needs to pass this on to Mark Steyn...
God help America. Show us how to keep faith in Thee alive in our society, when it is being suppressed daily. We seek thy aid and direction during this anti God time. We know it is Satan. Forgive us Father for our acceptance of evil around us. Help us LORD. Nothing is impossible to Thee, Thou art a merciful and forgiving God, we thank Thee for answering our prayers, in Jesus name.
With political correctness, the focus is on English-speaking, northern people of northern European descent crossing the northern border. I wonder what the costs are for so much idiocy.
Yes, did you ever doubt it?
The federal government has failed to protect us from invasion. We need to abolish the federal government.
Seems like a pretty basic violation of the contract to me.
