Once upon a time (1980s) I was the Vice-Commander of the only military operational mission in all of Southwest Asia. It was called ELF-One and it was the AWACS flying with USAF and Saudi crews out of Riyadh. Many Saudi Sundays (Saturday) you could go downtown and witness the same thing. It occurred right after Holy hour in the morning and was all carefully orchestrated. Person had been taken to hospital first and drugged, then brought to town square where the deed was done with many people standing around waiting. They cheered afterwards. It was almost never a Saudi national but at immigrant on a work visa. As an aside, a female and male airman arrived by commercial airplane and she left her purse in the taxi. Didn’t know they were coming. The next day the purse was delivered to her with everything including cash still inside.

Thanks for that background information. I was wondering how come no one tries to struggle or run. I always found that quite odd, considering the person would know either way they are going to die. I hadn't thought of the use of drugs. Thanks for shedding some light on this.

And do not forget that they sew the head back on afterward.
