Conservative site [Free Republic] on Romney: 'Enemies of the constitution ... are not welcome here'
politico ^ | 103111 | Ben Smith

Posted on 10/31/2011 8:11:08 PM PDT by Fred

In an email to POLITICO this afternoon, Robinson admitted that the site routinely blocks Romney supporters from posting -- and offered no apologies for the practice:

Free Republic is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-small government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty site. Governor Romney is none of the above. His record is that of an abortionist, gay rights pushing, gun grabbing, global warming advocating, big government, mandate loving, constitution trampling, flip-flopping liberal progressive with no core values. That and the fact that he is the chief architect and advocate for ObamaCare disqualifies him for any consideration whatsoever on Free Republic as a potential nominee for the presidency. ...

Liberal progressives and other enemies of the constitution and or of Liberty itself are not welcome here. Accounts registered here by liberal progressives and other assorted trolls, malcontents and disruptors will be removed on sight or at the convenience of the site administrators.

The site came under fire from Ross Abraham, a blogger for Mitt Romney Central, who wrote today that Free Republic is just one of several sites (along with RedState, he says) on the right-wing Internet that are pretty much off limits to Mitt Romney's supporters.

"How many pro Romney posts are allowed on sites like DU?"

The same number of churches built in Saudi Arabia.

However, if the election is Romney vs. Obama, I won’t be voting for Obama.

Neither will I. But I won't be voting for Romney either.

I’ve been thinking hard about this one and I don’t think I can pull the lever for Mitt. He’s no solution to the problems we have today and we can’ put the solutions off any longer. It’s no longer a matter of just putting the brakes on liberalism. The car needs to be put in reverse and backed up.

Our budget is going to have to be cut and cut deeply. Romney doesn’t have that in him.

"Yes, the Republican establishment, especially the stupid RINOs need to understand that a RomneyINO candidate will cause defection to the 3rd party candidate just like Bush 1 and his gun control got him ousted even against the rapist clintoon"

Ummh, Bush I won a term, against a soulless libtard policy wonk (sound familiar?) -- which proves the American people are more than stupid enough to elect a Bush I-type Mittens...

If the election were a toad against Obama I wouldn’t vote for Obama! I might write in Bo Diddly though.

Good point. Is there no picture of Romney wearing Joker makeup?

The way that Romney is going to lose the nomination is for you, and me, and everyone else, start telling our moderate and Republican friends why he would be a disaster as President.

And if you don't have any moderate Republican friends, that's part of the problem. Go get some.

Standing up in the middle of the amen corner and hollering "I'll just hold my breath 'till I turn purple if Romney is the nominee!!" is effectively useless.

I have seen a very juicy picture of Sarah Palin K-I-S-S-I-N-G Jim Rob! Perhaps Politico would like to publish it as evidence of the Governor SEXUALLY HARASSING our beloved FRiend and site OWNER./s

Yes, this site is PRIVATELY OWNED and operated, and therefore Jim has a right to banish anybody he considers a troll!

Jim allows a LOT of leeway in self-expression on this site, but has certain things he will not tolerate (and rightly so!). That is his right and his privilege!

Thank You, Jim for this wonderful site. My life has been changed because of it.

I lean Mitt and say so often here. He’s the least less-palatable and embarrassing at this point.

I have not come to seek your dismisal, but your enlightenment. I may be too late, but that is not up to me. Please do me the courtesy to reviewing the following document. Hopefully it will contain information you were not aware of. Every item in the document is sourced. Thank you.

11 pages of research done on Mitt Romney by John McCain's campaign in 2007.

Northeastern University’s William Mayer: “After Studying Presidential Nominations For 30 Years, I’ve Never Seen Somebody Who Has So Completely Renounced His Past Record When He Decided To Run For President.” (Jill Zuckman, “Romney’s On A Roll, In The Money And The Polls,” Chicago Tribune, 5/22/07)

New York Sun’s Ryan Sager: “Mr. Romney, however, somehow got pegged by the national press as ‘the smooth one.’ They dubbed him Matinee Mitt. Clearly, it’s the hair that fooled them. In fact, a study of the campaign so far shows that Mr. Romney is the most gaffe-prone of all the Republican candidates.” (Ryan Sager, “Romney’s Energy Gaffe,” The New York Sun, 4/20/07)

Good. FR is infested with Romney agent provocateurs and Rove disruptors. Time to sweep the cockroaches out.

How about voting TEA Party Independent for a change? Sarah Palin for President. John Bolton for Vice-President. Interested?

If Sarah Palin is the Republican Party candidate then I'll be DELIGHTED to vote for her.

Make no mistake, I'm *very* "Tea Party" and very activist. And during the primaries (and between elections) I fight like crazy for the most Tea Party-ish candidate I can find.

Then, after all that is decided, for the general election I go vote for anybody who has an (R) beside their name.

The *real* election is the primaries.

“I knew there was a reason I’ve been on here since 96”

You got me beat my friend. I have been here since Sept of 1999 and I can't believe it has been that long. Unfortunately, I am currently more pissed off about the state of this country than I was 12 years ago. I hope that changes in 2012.

Looks like the GOP is going to play the "religion card" on Romney, like the Dems are doing with Obama and the race card.

The substance of any criticism of Mitt will be ignored, and the complaint attributed to anti-Mormon bigotry, just like the liberals dismiss the Tea Party complaints about Obama's corruption and uncontsitutional actions as nothing more than racism.

We don't need a third party, we just need a second one.

“Romney and his ‘Oromneycare’ spam monkeys can just kiss my ass.”

I love this quote from Jim. He reminds me of my old best friend (may he rest in peace) who was retired Navy (like Jim) and was a conservative straight shooter. No BS allowed!

If you won’t bother to post using the correct headline/title, just don’t post articles at all.

It’s wonderful to be on a site where conservative values are actually upheld, and proudly so. Thank you, JimRob!
