Certainly not Rove. Rove was absolutely in favor of Mike Castle who polled well against Coons. In fact Castle probably would have defeated Coons and we would have 1 more Republican in the Senate. But the people on this site were in favor of O'Donnell big time. They insisted she could win although the polls showed she would lose. Now I not in favor of the polls most of the time but when it gets down to 1 or 2 candidates then they can mean something. Of course O'Donnell was slaughtered in the general just as Rove said she would be. Rove didn't doom O'Donnell. O'Donnell's wackiness doomed her candidacy Rove understood through his years in politics that O'Donnell was perceived as a kook and that even if she wasn't that was the perception. So the foolish voters in Delaware voted for her and got themselves another Democrat in the Senate. Something similar happened in California where the Republicans nominated Fiorina instead of Tom Campbell. Campbell had a much better chance against Boxer than Fiorina but the stupid voters went with Fiorina and got their asses handed to them.
