I don't like getting into religious discussion because this is America and all are free to worship as they choose.

Just making an observation on the fallout caused by the split from the original Christian Church.

Anybody can call themselves a Reverend, and the behavior that Luther cited for the split from the Pope pales in comparison to what those who went into business for themselves have been exhibiting for the last 500 years.

The behavior that Luther cited?

Reading his writings, he merely wanted to return to the Bible. As for the original Christian church, the Bible doesn’t know anything about a hierarchial priesthood, but rather a universal priesthood of believers with the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord over the church.

I will agree Luther whiffed on his understanding of the O.T., attempting to “read the church” into it; but his understanding of the N.T. was spot on. Salvation is by grace, and that grace comes by faith the Jesus Christ. Nothing more is needed. (Eph 2:8-9)
