What a thoughtful post.
Just making an observation on the fallout caused by the split from the original Christian Church.
Anybody can call themselves a Reverend, and the behavior that Luther cited for the split from the Pope pales in comparison to what those who went into business for themselves have been exhibiting for the last 500 years.
Who are you kidding. According to the RCC its the Catholics who serve the same God as the Muslims.
Catholic Catechism
841 The Church's relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."[330]
Pope John Paul talking to Catholics.
One of his first trips abroad was to Turkey, an overwhelmingly Muslim country, in 1979.
In a talk to the tiny Catholic minority there he urged respect for the religious and moral values of Islam.
In Morrocco speaking at the Casablanca Stadium he said, "we believe in the same God, the one God, the living God."
In May 2001, the pope became the first pontiff in history to enter a Muslim place of worship when he visited the Umayyad mosque in Damascus, Syria. He paused to pray at a memorial to St. John the Baptist inside the mosque in an event that was televised around much of the Muslim world. [http://www.catholicnews.com/jpii/stories/story04.htm]
I would suggest you know what the Catholic Church teaches before making snide remarks.
Only the Bible says what happens thousands of years before it happens.
This is the signature of God. The Quran DOES NOT do this.
See post 25
Just more humans with the umitigated nerve to claim they speak for God, in the pulpits, in the comments. They never tire of it.
And you’d never never see this happening in any Orthodox church either.
I did see it. You missed my ‘Daas’ comment. I certainly wasn’t agreeing, look at the list.
“.....a Mosque in IRAN...reading from the Bible.”
When they build the Cathedral of St. John Paul II in mecca, then we can have a start. n/s
I never use a sarcasm tag. I still miss your point however.
I looked at it after I posted that. Doh! LOL I should have counted how many Catholic churches were on that list.
“About the only thing that Christian churches in the United
States aren’t doing is Christianity.”
That’s a very broad brush, friend. You might benefit from acquainting yourself with the preaching, teaching and “atmospherics” of conservative Lutheran churches. But beware, as some claiming the title of Lutheran have strayed badly.
I would tear my clothes,
throw dust in the air,
shout “Ichabod, the Glory has departed” .....
THEN, I’d walk out.
Please cite an example of Lutherans reading the Quran in their public worship services. It cannot happen in my branch of Lutheranism.
Perhaps, but the mission of the Pastor Teacher, with a spiritual gift, ..not an academic or mental gift, but a spiritual gift, is to teach believers the Word of God.
The Word of God, once circulating in the thinking of the believer is then used by God the Holy Spirit to sanctify the believer. If the believer drifts out of fellowship, distracted, or thinks independently of faith in Christ, then he has to repent his sins and confess them to God through faith in Christ, before the Holy SPirit can continue His ministry.
Somebody ought to break out a butterfly net and get the person responsible some professional help.
Complain to the Archdiocese, that bulletin is way out of line.
