A former plaza boss for the Gulf Cartel is behind bars in the Rio Grande Valley after being arrested in Starr County.

U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested 34-year-old Eudoxio Ramos-Garcia at a Rio Grande City home on Thursday.

Court records released Wednesday show that Ramos-Garcia is the former plaza boss for the Gulf Cartel across the border from Roma in Miguel Aleman, Tamaulipas.

U.S. Immigrant & Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have taken over the investigation and filed federal drug charges against Ramos-Garcia.

Court records show that Ramos-Garcia remained in the drug trafficking business as an independent marijuana smuggler.

The records show that Ramos-Garcia had business dealings with a man who got killed and the nephews of the current plaza boss for Miguel Aleman.

Ramos-Garcia told investigators that his business partners would move the smuggled marijuana to Houston.

The 34-year-old drug smuggling suspect appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Peter Ormsby in McAllen on Monday morning.

Court records show that Ramos-Garcia is a Mexican national who entered the United States illegally on October 18th.

Ramons-Garcia told investigators that he paid smugglers $500 dollars to cross the Rio Grande River because his United States visa had expired.

Judge Ormsby denied bond for Ramos-Garcia until a Thursday morning hearing.

How dare he not pay off the proper government officials! How did he expect any protection?
