Did any of the other GOP candidates comment on this?

Newt released a statement:

“I condemn the decision of the UNESCO to admit Palestine as a member state, and applaud the State Department for immediately moving to cut off funding. This is a hostile action on the part of United Nations bureaucrats and the Palestinian leadership to circumvent the peace process with Israel illegitimately, and the United States must immediately cut off funding to any other UN entity that illegally recognizes Palestine.”

“The vast anti-Israel faction at the United Nations will now try to use this vote as a first step toward full Palestinian recognition, giving voice to a government that counts terrorist organization Hamas as a key participant. The United States must be prepared to suspend all funding to the United Nations if the General Assembly moves to recognize a Palestinian state under the control of Hamas."

The United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is mostly now centered on "Cultural Organization" and is as bad or worse than the United Nations Human Rights Council. Google "UN Human Rights Council" and you'll see some of the worst offenders of human rights are on that Council.

That UN org now has Cuba, Saudi Arabia, China, Congo, and so many more on the council. How many resolutions has the UN councils passed against the peaceful Israelis, and not a one against Iran and Syria who back Hezbollah and Hamas? Talk about hypocrisy. What a worthless bunch of a**hats.

Between UNESCO and the Human Rights Council, the UN has become so corrupt, biased, and self-serving against Western civilization that I truly believe it should be disbanded. Of course, I never thought it worth much, but it's getting worse.

If not disbanded, then get them the hell out of our Country, and let them push their one-world, anti-free enterprise, anti-Israel, and pro-socialist/communist agenda somewhere else. If America did such, it would make them less credible. Good thing.

Yes, I know this is nothing new...just thought I would mention the reasons why the UN should just go away, once again.

And while we're at it, disband NATO. There is no longer any need for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It only gets us into conflicts we should have no part of - think Libya. If the SHTF, we can always aligned with those countries who have liberty's best interests at heart. Think WWII. There was no NATO; no UNITED NATIONS. Simple survival and protection of freedom. I'm confident Australia and even the pathetic PC British and others would sign on quickly.

Disclaimer: I'm not an isolationist and do not support Ron Paul's beliefs to pull up the drawbridge. If we did so, the World would quickly become the hunting ground for every totalitarian dictator/regime. Still, I believe we should pull our Troops out of certain locations and let the rogue nations know that an attack on Western civilization in mass, then you get Dresden and Tokyo fire-bombing. Enough of this political correctness nonsense. They attack, everyone of them gets killed. Everyone. Sorry. Better their civilians than ours.

If I've learned anything in my 61 years, it is that bad guys only understand power. I learned that in Junior High School about bullies and power-mongers. I've also learned that collateral damage is a consequence of committing to such power.

Blue hats are a**hats. They do little; accomplish nothing (think Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, Congo, Chad, et al). A waste of time and money. Either go in with everything we've got or let them self-destruct. They are no threat simply because they can't and probably never will get their sh*t together.

We should have put Iran's leadership in its rightful place long ago - as in dead. Now they probably have the bomb, and definitely have big military capability. We should have also supported their peoples' uprising.

I'm going to see a major conflagration in the Middle East in my lifetime because of the "Arab Spring", which could lead to WWIII. Our idiot politicians think democracy is going to take hold in that region? Really?

Geeze, I'm a nobody, but can see the Islamists (Sharia Law) already winning elections with their new found so-called freedom. Nobody wants to say it, but I will -- So many Muslim peoples just simply don't WANT liberty, as we know it. They're not of that ideology; they are of a theocracy that is all encompassing in their lives. "Islam is peaceful religion" so said Bush. Pfft.

Also, when we pull out of Iraq and Aftganiscrap, they will revert to their religious tribal conflicts, while Iran moves in to support their particular Islamist beliefs. Watch. You'll see it happen within 2 years of us being gone. We'll be fighting those barbarians again...
