U.S. Will Withhold Funds For U.N. Agency After Vote to Grant Membership to Palestinians

The United States will not pay $60 million to a U.N. cultural and educational agency after it voted Monday to accept the Palestinian mission as a full member, triggering a U.S. requirement to cut off funds.

"We are not going to be able to continue contributing to the budget," State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said. "Palestinian membership as a state in UNESCO triggers longstanding legislative restrictions which will compel the United States to refrain from making contributions to UNESCO."

Washington is required by law to cut off funding to any U.N. agency if the Palestinian Liberation Organization is granted membership in any group at the international body.

Someone please explain to me why the so-called palistians don't already have their own nation in Gaza? I know about the West Bank that Israel needs to defend itself from Syria, but what has that to do with Gaza?

The Israelis unilaterally pulled out of Gaza some years ago where most of the palis live. I would think that gave them their Nation. So I vote yes, in the UN, they have their nation. While, they can have the land, what I like most about the palis having a designated nation, once they are a world-accepted nation, when they attack Israel, she can bomb them out of existence when they continue to attack. Maybe that's why the national community is so reluctant to give them their Country. Think?

What am I getting wrong? They want to go back to pre-1967 and get EVERYTHING they want so they can continue their intifadas against the Jews and suck up resources from other Countrys. They refuse to do anything for themselves, other than teach their hate and whine and cry and not even attempt to produce. No wonder the rest of the Arab worlds has ignored them and refused to take them in.

But wait, with the "Arab Spring" and all the Islamists that will be influential in their new governments, maybe the Palis can get more sympathy if they are NOT a true nation.

I absolutely despise that part of the world, except for Israel, whose populace just wants to live in peace and enjoy the fruits of their labor. Screw palis, the Muslim Brotherhood, Hezbolla, Hamas, Iran, et al. I have no problem with bombing them into the 7th century they so love.

The time is coming...watch.
