the biggest problem with the whole line of reasoning is that to the extent that he has made “missteps”, they aren’t hurting him.

You are correct. Now, if any of the others took all sides of an issue, it would be hurting them, as it would be recognized as a serious character flaw rather than a misstep or mistake.

A misstatement is hardly a lie...in fact, lies from politicians is why the outsider businessman is winning in Iowa and Nationally.

Please understand that Cain is not making misstatements--he is deliberately telling one group one thing about his positions and when he is addressing others, he changes his positions.
